I'm almost certain on that, just not sure if I want brown, or blues.
I think I want blues, but I'm not sure. I'd really like to test them a bit before buying, but I don't know anyone who has any, nor anywhere that sells them so I can do so.

What's wrong with reds? They seem like a really light version of the Blacks. I'm not a programmer or anything so typing doesn't bother me too much, it will be for gaming mainly.

Main thing that turned me off reds is that some people say they find them way too light to type on. I've never had a chance to try reds, but they also do seem to sell a lot faster than others. It all does come down to personal preference. I went back to typing on that ugly Black Widow the other day to see if I liked Blues or Browns better, I was far too annoyed by the size of it to even be able to decide. I am in no way intending to get a full sized keyboard again any time soon.

too light IMO, they require about two thirds of the actuation force compared to browns IIRC and browns are pretty damn light as it is (much lighter than my old rubber dome keyboard). Up to you obviously but IMO going straight for the most "extreme" switch available would be pretty foolish. They also don't have a tactile bump (and neither do the blacks) which to me kind of defeats the purpose, but hey a lot of people like that anyway.

also, you say you don't care about typing but I'm willing to bet you still make more keystrokes typing on this forum alone than you do while gaming.

Yeah, but how it feels typing doesn't bother me too much. I'd be more pissed if I noticed when gaming then noticing it typing.
But unsure if I want the tactile feel of brown or not.

They need to set up a mechanical keyboard test centre or something :P

EDIT: Oh maybe I would like it when typing. Damn it, now I'm even further back from making a decision...

yeah, they actually do lol

and I have to ask, notice what? the 1/100000th of a second slower you think you might be double tapping on reds compared to browns? I dungeddit

and its worth pointing out, mech keyboards are great because they provide a more consistent key response and that's about it. They don't omit rainbows, give you superpowers or raise your APM by >20% so I wouldn't over think it.

lol, all I'm saying is don't get too excited.

think of it like a set of knives, a $50 set from K-Mart will still cut stuff so why buy a $200 set?

I'm going to get the Ducky Shine II I previously linked. Linked again for convenience
I just don't know when, I'm pretty set on the blues. I just need to justify a purchase of $150 for a keyboard to my mother. :|

Just tell her that's how much keyboards cost. She wont know the difference. I'm considering the Shine 2 also, but backlit keyboard means I can't customise the keys. So I always end up on WASD making stupid rainbow keyboards just because I can...

Yeah, she's pretty much buying it for me.

Keyboard + Shipping = ~$170 - The shipping is a pain.

You can change the keys on the Shine 2, the key caps don't hinder the backlighting.
