Your dad's the dude that buys the computer, pays for the internet connection and probably doesn't really care how the latest game runs on the machine.

lol I'd just get him to read this post, but then he'll see you called him a noob and made fun of him, so your better off saying

"dad we can get better drivers for a computer to make it run faster, download porn quicker and you need to ground me for a week"

hehehehehehe

What's the new nVidia G80 drivers like? They improve much etc?
Because I distinctly remember them releasing like 4 versions of the current old drivers because they caused problems or something.

hey guys,

does anyone know where i can find a version of Samsung 226BW driver newer than v1.0?

i'm running 64bit vista and i want to push my desktop to a native res higher than 1680x1050 but lower than 1920x1080 as the desktop icons etc don't look proportioned (i'm looking for more resolution settings in other words).

running e6600 with 8800gtx...

cheers in advance.

Good question, I'd like to know the answer too.

Also is having the most updated BIOS version important? :S

Didn't notice much of a difference between the 163.44's and the 163.71's. Noticed a huge difference between the 165.01's and the 163.44's though. The 165.01's i don't think were an official nVidia release, but at the time i think nVidia had the 158.XX drivers out.

You'd only update your BIOS if you need to or if there's a general consensus saying it's a good update. I flashed my 965 board to the F10 BIOS as suggested, but not because i needed to.

Chipset drivers you should definitely do.

Kickpush, most/all LCD's won't run above their native resolution, which for a 22" WS is 1680x1050.

I bet you didnt know that if you Press and Hold CONTROL and scroll UP / Down with your Mouse your icons resize themselves :)

Control + WheelMouse FTW!

This will fix your issue mate, not a resolution drama at all, its a Vista feature which, i think is GREAT!

Na, it doesnt change your desktop Icon size, it can change your browser text size and stuff tho.

I know it doesnt change your resolution :) I didnt say it would - simply that it changes your Desktop Icons :)

Setting up PC

Unread postby Treloar » 16 Jun 08, 9:35 am

When I setup a PC, I partition and format the HDD with 2 partitions.

C:\ is used for the main OS and all program files

D:\ is for storage of all non-program files i.e. my personal files, images, drivers for setting up my PC, etc

This way when I have to freshly install my PC cause its running slow for example or just to tidy things up or a virus/worm buggers up the installation, I simply do a format of C:\ and do a fresh install and refer to D:\ for the drivers. One of these days I will remember to make an image of a fresh setup to store on my D:\ drive which will quicken reinstallation.
