Most Yanks Believe Bad Weather Affects Cloud Computing.

Unread postby PinothyJ » 31 Aug 12, 10:20 am

Funniest thing I have ever read on Techspot (from Citrix).

According to the above survey, more than half believed that bad weather would affect the performance of the 'cloud' and a worrying 29% thought that actual clouds were involved the whole process.

It is a pretty funny read and makes me giggles at these ignorant kids these days…

Well, bad weather can and does affect the cloud. They're not wrong. The 29% have no excuse however.

Those 51% of people are technically correct. The best kind of correct.

Technically, bad weather doesn't affect cloud computing unless it takes out the power to the data centre(s), along with the backup generators.

It does, however, affect your ability to access said cloud computing... which is a completely different issue. It's not like the internet ceases to work just because your connection to it fails, unless you are a solipsist. :)

I'm not sure what you mean Mekon, that's exactly what happened in the story I linked.

Granted, Americans may be ignorant, but did they survey any other countries about the matter? Probably not, I can assure you that most Australians would probably give you same responses too.
