system assembling service, any good?

Unread postby lorry_driver » 3 Jul 12, 8:23 pm

Hey guys,

I looked at the PCCG site recently and found they can build a computer for you using the parts you picked.

link: http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?mai ... s_id=20697

It's been over 7 years since I last put together a computer by myself (GPU cards I'm familiar, CPUs with aftermarket fans - not that confident). I tried to find out if MSY does something similar but can't find anything on the website.

Does letting the store assemble your system worth the cost? Keep in mind that the PCCG service makes YOU install any aftermarket coolers and not them. And MSY I have no clue.

MSY do have a similar service to PCCG, however they won't ship it to you.

In saying that though, all aftermarket coolers come with an instruction sheet showing you what to do etc, usually with pictures too. It isn't the hardest thing you'll ever do either.

Does letting the store assemble your system worth the cost?

Up to you. Myself, I'm confident in building a machine completely, but if you think you'll snap something or **** it up, then it might be worth your while getting someone else to do it.

Had a mate get a nice rig built by Scorptec recently. They did a spot on job of cabling and really looked like they tool some time to get it looking nice. Software installed as well as the assemble came to about $100 or so, but it looks like they spent some time on the job so imo it is well worth it.

My mate is not so PC friendly either and this was a great way to have a super warranty on the entire system, not just the parts.
