Needs a zoomed out piccy with something for scale I reckon Tim (Not being a proper Warhammer fan I have no idea what I'm really looking at). But even so, I must say that that looks mighty impressive, skulls never go out of fashion.

Needs more random blood splatter. I can deal with there not being bomb craters.

In other news, I am currently undertaking an ambitious project: scratch building two(!) Thunderhawks.

Maybe I'll share some pictures when I finish the hull...

Looking forward to your pics Boris :D

This is how my painting attempts always go

So having played Kill Team and getting excited for Space Marine all over again, I thought maybe it was time I finished painting my Black Templars. So I sit down, I get them out, I frown at them. **** Space Marines and their boring armour arrrgh, I don't want to paint you. I'll paint my Empire (Fantasy). Ugh, why did I choose this colour scheme again? Maybe I'll paint the Skaven from the last boxset. No, I'll assemble the Elves. Wait, **** that. I wanted to do Space Marines. I know! I'll paint metal, **** yeah, that's always fun. Okay, Grey Knights, time to... ****, where is your arm, Battle Brother? WHERE IS YOUR ARM. Christ. Alright, screw this. If I'm going to paint metal, I'm going to paint my Privateer Press stuff. Okay, Everblight, I haven't painted any of you. Wait, I haven't finished putting you together. And I don't want to play you. Khador it is.

And then I just look at my painted models trying to remember what paints I mixed and then I give up.

I like those a lot! If I could make one suggestion, I'd say you should get your hands on some washes, maybe Citadel Devlan Mud (preferred) or Gryphyonne Sepia, and splash it liberally across the skin, the red and the gold them to bring out the details. You could even grab a black wash like Badab Black for the silver parts to bring out the detail on the machinery.

Space Marines are a **** to paint, I'm painting up some friends Lamenters at the moment and all the edge-highlighting is driving me nuts!

Just fyi you still download the image when it is in hidden tags. But it still saves pages!

I love Gryphonne Sepia, it is amazing to do non-metallic golds with. Those Khador models were basically my first ever painted miniatures, so I've come a long way since then (meaning I use washes like they're going out of goddamn fashion).

Also stuff like Shining Gold is horrible to work with, Boltgun is probably the only metallic that goes on rather easily.

My main problem with Space Marines is that you're basically painting big flat panels, which gets really boring when you've got so many to do. I mean, I guess it's not as bad as painting Orks. Or Skaven.

Edit: Found this incredible picture when going through an old Warhammer thread looking for a painting tip that I can barely remember.

Aw geez, well, they still beat out my first ever painted miniatures!

Good to hear you're embracing the Wash Revolution (TM), I haven't looked back since I started using Foundation Paints + Wash = Success strategy (except to go nuts with specific character miniatures).

I find Orks much easier to paint than Marines, tbh!

EDIT: Mekdonalds, love it

Want to share your models ?

Come along to the SAPMA Expo last weekend of October at the CBC gym on Wakefield Street, Adelaide.

There is a class for Fantasy/warhammer, also classes for juniors and for novices if you want to enter competition but entry is free if you just want to display your models.
Oh, he's an awful chap.

I think this thread needs some love. So to do so, how about some WIP picture of my scratch built Thunderhawk?
Stormraven is the same one as you may have seen earlier in the thread, and is for size comparison. It should be about the same size as a Forgeworld model. Now I just need to order in some Heavy Bolters (love the Landraider Terminus Ultra Conversion Kit), build some engines and the Tubro Laster, detail it some more and paint it up. And then do it all again for round two!
