FSEconomy for flight sims

Unread postby Up'n'At0m » 26 Jun 12, 9:29 pm

Hi all, seems a bit of following in the flight sim area around here. I have recently joined up to a free addon called FSeconomy. It gives great purpose to otherwise just randomly going for a fly. The community forums are also great, plenty of raffles/comps and plenty of discussion.

Basic jist is you fly jobs for virtual dollars which allow you to buy new planes and businesses, rent them out etc and run your own little operation.

FSEcomony works with xplane9/10 and FS9, and of course with FSX. It's also compatible with FSpasengers (can run in conjunction with it)

It has greatly renewed my interest in FSX again and I am really enjoy flying the north coast of QLD with ORBX scenery.

give it a try if your after something different to go with your flightsimming.

Free addons are always great, and I love anything which gives the game some kind of perpetual nature. Any idea whether it works in prepar3d? I was happily using FSPassengers until I ported to prepar3d are realised its one of the only addons I havn't been able to get to work :/

I believe it will work with P3D as it is essentially FSX. Probably have to have the usual tricks of having a FSX.exe in the P3D folder etc like porting over planes and other addons.

P3D is not supported on the forums due to the possible legal nature of the "academic" version of the software and the "game" nature of FSEconomy, but that's not for me to comment on, and upto you to decided if its entertainment or education.

Given how similar fsx and p3 are I'd guess it may well work if p3 uses simconnect as fsx does. Xplane install does need you to edit the planes you want to fly in fse but it doesn't seem to difficult and xplane does have a plane editor.
From what I've read of the manual today this does look a very good concept especially if you have any desires to explore commercial aviation. You can even start up groups and fly as a team so cyclobs idea of a gon airline would really work with this.
No slewing which is good but they do allow time compression with a 30/48 hrs rule.
Register and have a read of the forums they seem fairly active.

cheers :)
