and you definitely got quality, that is a beautifully modelled c90; might have to charge up the paypal account for that.

dc3 would be my choice cyclobs, I like how they've done the original look of the cabin in fsx, a hd version would be very tempting.

cheers :)

won't be around for a few days... FSX has decided to start crashing every 10 minutes. Looks like i went one addon too far :P

i think I might move it onto my SSD, maybe even give prepar3d a go. :D

currently copying the 3 FSX cds onto a USB on my macbook cause my windows machine refuses to read them for some unknown reason.

the fsx installer needs to be given admin rights for it to work correctly.
and I noticed prepar3d the other day, seems to be mainly lockheed martin planes which isn't surprising given it's their software.
I downloaded the xplane10 demo this morning and will try that out today, trailer looks amazing:
http://www.x-plane.com/desktop/multimedia/

edit: seems prepar3d is compatible with fshost and backward compatible with fsx, if fact reading the wiki it's a complete rebuild of the base fsx engine and packed with a whole bunch of goodies such as textures as high as 4096 x 4096; definitely may be worth the 49usd price.

cheers :)

yeh i had a good look at prepar3d. ended up buying the 49 buck license. they just released version 1.3 and they hinted at performance improvements. Everyone is hanging out for V2 apparently as they are hoping for big multicore enhancesments and DX11 support.

Yeh its backwards compatible and there is a program out there which can 'trick' all your addons into installing into prepared so everything works... apparently. Was going to download it over the weekend when i get a bit off data allowance and have a go. Looks exciting.

Let us know about the xplane 10 demo - i've had the demo installer sitting on here for ages but never bothered to fire it up.

EDIT: FSX supports cloud textures at 4096. Not sure about ground textures tho.

the demo is great, very polished compared to stock fsx; but the compatibility of prepar3d is also very appealing. I just might need to try both lol

and cyclobs great pics, customer satisfaction seemed to wane a tad over the flight, you might want to change the in-flight movie :P

cheers :)

OK I think I've managed to get most of the crashing sorted :/ Bought FSPassengers the other day, started a hard company in economic and career mode, going to build my way up.

First plane bought. Prolly a silly purchase since it only has 2 seats and no autopilot :/ Night flights are pretty

On the way to rotto. Unfortunately the island itself is poorly detailed.

Traded up to a 208 Skyline with 6 seats. Doing the Launny to Hobart run, unfortunately the game crashed about 40min in so didn't record the flight.

Messing around trying to emergency land the DC-3. Props feathered, landing gear failed, was trying to bump the landing gear to get it to go down... didn't work :/

While my mates were playing Diablo I had a quick go at Prepar3d. Applied all the tweaks which I could find... so far I'm not a fan as I couldn't get the framerate anywhere near for fsx was. We are talking 15-20 fps max. Somethings not right.

Oh well - taking advantage of the cable connection while I'm here and having a look at the x-plane 10 demo. Hopefully its optimised a little more.... whats your thoughts Brim?

EDIT: x-plane demo maxing out at 120kbps... and has stalled twice... fml

sim was very smooth but not sure what frame rates I was getting; I'll give it a run later tonight with fraps on and see how it performs.
spent most of the weekend with diablo3 lol
and great pics once more v4moose.

doesn't seem to be very well optimised, cpu useage was mainly on one core and gpu usage never got above 25% on card 1 and about 5% on card 2.
there might be a app profile to improve gpu usage though
ram usage was also very low so it must be streaming
the game is very nice though, radio chatter especially improved over fsx.
the pics are with the render settings maxed out

with clouds turned off the performance is improves, though can't imagine flying without clouds :D

I'll have a look on their forums and see what can be done to improve performance and if I can get up to at least 60 frames stable then I'll probably buy it

cheers :)
