Here's hoping the steam summer sale brings with it a discount for A-10C. Do want that 'module' - but not for $40 bucks

steam sale is now
a-10c $16usd
bs1 $ 5usd

and I just saw that you purchased both v4moose, both are great buys and sweet sims.
With a-10c you can d/l the module from dcs and use the key you get from steam to activate it in DCS world
bs1 is a great sim on its own but you need to upgrade to bs2 to use it in dcs world.
bs2 isn't on steam but you can buy the uprade for $20usd from dcs

ah thanks Brim - you preempted my questions. How do I make sure the steamy versions of a-10C and blackshark integrate with world :D

I bought the upgrade on the ED pages. I left my steam running to download them before coming to work... sound like I'll have to re download the non-steam version of both modules and just use the keys to activate into world?

bs1 you do need to d/l and install on steam as it needs to be installed to activate bs2 which is a 450mb d/l from dcs.

A-10 you didn't need to d/l and you shouldn't install/launch or activate it through steam, you just need the key and d/l the 750mb module from dcs and activate it in dcs world.

cheers :)

n1 DJ, just make sure you activate it in dcs world not steam

the latest version of dcs world is here:
http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/i ... ct&lang=en

and the latest a-10c module is here:
http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/i ... ts&lang=en

You will need to register at dcs so you can associate that key with mp login:
http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/e ... gister=yes

Then install dcs world first then a-10c and then login into mp with your dcs registration to activate.

do some tutorials and get use to the sim in game mode; I should be on around 1pm.

and v4moose if you want to have a fly with us you can find us on the pwr ts at:
ts36.gameservers.com port 9246

and I might have to have a chat with Hydra about a dcs server, we almost have half a squadron

cheers :)

hey brim,

i've got a blackshark 2 upgrade key ready to use.

currently i have black shark 1 installed in my steam account, and the full version of black shark 2 via world.

The world regitration is rejecting my key, presumably because it doesn't know blackshark 1 is installed in steam... do you know what I should do?

Hey Moose. Real nice meeting u last night.. Must apologies for Brimlad. For some reason, he just loves to juggle pigeons and used baby nappies. We're not sure why, but everyone agrees, even with all the confusion and splatz, messiness aside, it's pretty dam entertaining.
Today I got everything running. As I just did a full upgrade/reinstall/mortgage the kids/Et cetera Et cetera, it was not too dam easy. It's prob fare to say it would have been easier if I could have aced a road side Breathalyzer test but we work with what we got.

So.. today, Brimlad ran a server, and we did some stuff. Again, I feel it's safe to say some work may be required to work out WTF is going on...
I strongly suggest we all get in a sh1ts and giggles server ASAP and have some fun.
Maybe in the next night or so.

That's the guide I used to get into Black Shark, it's an excellent step-by-step introduction to start-up and weapons handling.

For higher order stuff, you'll be best off learning from experienced shark pilots. The guys at AEF used to drill auto-rotational landings by having the instructor shoot out the left engine of the student... I got through about 4 goes at it before I decided there are limits to my love of sims.

That's the guide I used to learn to fly the Black shark, I actually printed it and still refer to it. Also worth printing off the key command list which is about 9 pages and the "accelerated engine start up procedure" training mission. The only thing else you will need is the rearming/ refueling procedure which is straight forward and it's always fun chatting with the ground crew at your local farp.
Rudder pedals make the Black Shark much more enjoyable as you can straffe while holding the stick centred keeping your elevation angle on the target, worth the money for that bird.
and great to see you on our ts v4moose, your always welcome as are all simers/gamers and never listen to DJ none of us there do :P

cheers :)

I've been a big fan of the Pwr guys since the BF2 days, will definitely look to drop by. I get so torn between Shark and Hog.. Hog comes with the iPad app that makes my downstairs a mini sim-pit.. but I prefer the more visceral and demanding flight model of the shark.

Really like watching youtube vids where people use proper radio chatter, that's the kind of playstyle I definitely want to work towards. AEF are great for that and have some incredibly knowleadgable pilots as well... has Pwr every flown with them? Their DCS-161 Squadron started up an open sim-pilot community too.

hey Mellie you're always welcome at PwR, I remmeber we had some contact with TEA in BF2 days though that really wasn't my game. We still have a few fpsers playing a variety of games and a few playing even more varied games in fact there probably isn't a game that someone at PwR hasn't played.
The Black Shark was my favorite until I got into a p-51d; the BS is a great machine to fly once you master the trim and get use to the crazy russian weapon system and when drop out to third p view to check your damage it does sound brutal. I've never flown with aef, I was late getting the BS and always found it difficult to find aus servers for BS or the a-10; I did notice on the weekend a few pop up, tog and aef had one each no doubt trying out Combined Arms which I must say is great fun; I had one running sunday arvo to try out CA and let DJ have fly but ramp starts and martini's didn't mix well for DJ :P

I've requested a flight lounge ts channel here at gon as our gameserver ts at PwR is pretty flakey and the gon ts deserves a sim room.

cheers :)
