If you keep an eye out, you may be able to get an awesome deal. I picked up the Deluxe Edition + Acceleration for $40 from EB Games.

And I'll agree that you should definitely get a joystick if you haven't already.

Sad but true, I picked up both for at least $100 more. What happens when you are an enthusiast :D

DCS A-10C!

That or LockOn (same producers, LockOn is just a little easier to learn but has a lot more planes).

FSX is good for civilian flight.. I use to really enjoy the [TEA] Airlines flights where we'd have a bunch of guys in Cessna's doing trips around Australia.

I'd really love to see a Vietnam era Helictoper Sim.. ferrying troops in and out of combat, machine guns blaring out the sides..

I wonder if you can get a decent replica joystick/collective/rudder and throttle setup for helo sims. Probably not.

I no this is an old threat but I fly all the time!! FSX is great tho you needs a very fast computer if your only new to it all best bet is find FS9 and play that, not only will you get better frames on your computer but a lot more aircraft to choose from. check out PMDG and airsimmer PMDG are the best when it comes to Boeing 737 and 747 planes! airsimmer are great for A320. if you want to take it to the next level and fly online with other people go to www.vatsim.net and sign up and select your region i.e VATPAC is Australia (www.vatpac.org) hope that helps.

Resurrecting an old thread.

I feel like playing a flight simulator game again and I'm not sure what to play. Got a decent joystick just sitting there getting dusty. I tried Flight Simulator X Demo but the frame rate is horrible on my old XP PC. It's only a demo so the real thing might be better. EB had the Deluxe edition for $28 last week but that sale has ended so that idea might be out of the window  .

I've never heard of this but I might give it a go if it is a flight simulator. I don't know what it is and if it is similar to the Microsoft ones it will do me. Plenty of planes and scenery to go with as well (all unmetered for me of course :D )

if you want to run anything at close to good frames, you'll need to upgrade your pc. I'm running a 5 y/o Core II duo 2.4gig (o/c to 3gig) with 6 gig ram and an ATI 4890 and get okay frame rates with FSX using good payware products like Orbx scenery and PMDG NGX and MD11.

depends what you want to do ie. fly for leisure or go hard core with a VA (military or civilian). either way FSX will still be around for a long time.

Otherwise try FS2004.
