Can't say I actually feel any outrage at all tbh.

My god this is perfect for a Chuck Testa joke..

I do think it's moderately distasteful, but I don't find it offensive, the fact they're at risk of thousands of dollars of fines for approaching a dead animal is **** hilarious though, what rocket scientist greenie retard came up with that law?

Who cares, it's a dead whale? Cut it up and cook it. Please list the negative outcomes of this kid standing on a whale carcass.

distasteful yeh, lack of respect, yes.. outraged? no. If they want to risk their lives by jumping about on a dead mammal then so what? I don't understand why whales in particular, have a law with the fines n **** and not being able to go within 300m.. how's it differ to a dead cow or something?

I'm outraged that these kids potentially face a $30,000 fine.

Whale carcasses attract large sharks ...

Yes, while it's 50 ft on the beach. -__-
What right do these morons have to anonymity?

What right do you have to call them morons on a public form? Pretty certain that's cyber bullying, and illegal too, but what ever. :|

Granted, what they did was 'wrong' and shouldn't have done, respect the dead animal. Leave it be, take a picture of it if you think you must, but don't surf on it, that's just crazy. If I were a dead whale and I had children surfing on me, I'd be sad. xD

Personally I would hate to see what would happen if these 'whale lovers' found out about Japan.

Actually you'd be a dead whale incapable of feelings or emotions.

This^

When I was a kid if a whale or a dolphin washed up dead on the beach then beachgoers would go and have a look, it was an educational experience. It's not like they were cutting pieces off it or anything, sounds like the council are just scared someone is going to get hurt by a rolling carcass and sue the hell out of them.

Put a cordon up sure, but 300m? That's ridiculous.

No son, I'd be in whale heaven chillin' with Moby Dick. Seeing how my life panned out then see kids surfin' on me, I'd cry, then lol, then poop a little.

A dead whale is a lot larger than a dead cow and as it decomposes it fills with methane and other gases, so jumping up and down on one is probably not the greatest of ideas. While it can seem silly to have a fine and such large distance restrictions for a dead whale, one must consider that if the whale had burst open and one of these guys had been hurt, I'm sure there would be plenty of people screaming about the need for dead whale awareness and the need for more penalties to deter interfering with dead whales. That and the obligatory lawsuit against a council for being so negligent in its duty of care regarding dead whale safety.

Couldn't care less, TBH. Would feel very differently if it were alive, but it's not.

The whale is dead, just blow it up already... >.>

This. It is a pretty moronic thing to do, I couldn't care less about the dead animal itself.

If fined it will be nothing like $32k, they always quote the maximum fine for maximum scare value. The max value would be for interfering/tormenting a live whale I would have thought.
