Who would have believed it, someone even stupider than George W. Bush!

Bush wasn't stupid (they dont let stupid people do carrier landings in fighter jets), he was just the worst public speaker on the planet.

Got a source for that? I did a quick google search and found that he was copilot of a plane and that "Bush said he did take a turn at piloting the craft".

It's kind of moot anyway since the intelligence required to hold a broad high public office is pretty different from the very specialised intelligence of a fighter pilot.

Yeah you might be right, little digging and I can't seem to see any confirmation that he landed that, rusty memory ftl. Doesn't really change the fact that he spent years as a pilot though (and supposedly a period as an instructor), if that's not a decent indicator of base intelligence then I don't know what is, I don't agree with a lot of what he did in office but I reckon he really got a bum rap because of his failures in front of a microphone.

I saw a video that made a fairly convincing case that he might have suffered from pre-senile dementia or some other change in his mental state. It showed a news interview from when he was running for Texas Governor (from memory) and the difference was quite remarkable. He was fluent, eloquent and well-spoken. Compared to his efforts during his presidency it was chalk and cheese.

Except:

http://www.straightdope.com/columns/read/2446/did-george-w-bush-go-awol-during-his-time-in-the-national-guard wrote:Knowing he'd soon be eligible for the draft, he took an air force officers' test hoping to secure a billet with the Texas Air National Guard, which would allow him to do his military service at home. Bush didn't do particularly well on the test — on the pilot aptitude section, he scored in the 25th percentile, the lowest possible passing grade.

Personally I'm more inclined to think of skilled oration as intellectual and piloting being in the field of a technocrat.

the longer it went the more damage it did to the Republican party. people who want Obama to win would have wanted that to drag on as long as possible. it was good whilst it lasted. 7 months is a long enough time for people to forget about the ridiculous child-like bickering.

campaign mode: engage.

I'm more and more inclined to think that country is going to be ruled by the religious nutbag come the election, the fundies won't stand for supporting gay marriage.
