Norway shootings

Unread postby Nekosan » 23 Jul 11, 1:10 pm

Surprised there isn't a thread yet, current revised total is 87 dead (80 on the island) making it the largest spree killing by a single shooter in history.

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2011-07-23/n ... ks/2807138

No news yet on how the police took the guy, there was no assistance to the island for a few hours and they havent said anything, i cant remember ever seeing a shooter just arrested like that, it's always either suicide or death by cop.

Apparently he was shot and then they arrested him. Not sure where I read that though.

Can't imagine what the people on the island would be thinking while it was all happening..

Utterly ghastly.

Look at the island here -

Its tiny. No where to hide, no way to get to it. He would have been able to just walk around and pick them off. The sick son of a ****.

Turns out he's a Christian Fundamentalist. I will enjoy throwing that in the teeth of every sanctimonious christian lobbyist, but for heavens sake, WHY on earth would he do something like this? Why would anyone? Its utterly barbaric. He wants to further a cause or so it seems, but I can think of nothing else that will turn more people against it.

They're still unclear if both attacks were the same person or not, but they believe it is, since a man seen after the Oslo bombings pretty much matched the man they arrested on the island.

I was lead to believe it was more of an attack against the ruling Labor government in Norweigh, since it was the Prime Ministers office that was bombed in Oslo and the camping thing on the island was a Labor event.

I normally don't advocate labor party principles, but I hope that the labor party in Norway remains in office until this swine dies in prison.

Disgusted to point of actual shock, my mind is blown by how horrible it would have been to be on that island. Apparently there was close to 700 people on the island.

News coverage over here actually showed helicopter footage of bodies floating in the water around the island. People swimming away bleeding, people getting off boats screaming, was truly awful.

The Labour party of Norway and the Labor party of Australia have very little in common except for their name, even in principle nowadays.

Absolutely terrible. He dressed as a policeman, so people who were scared/out of communication wouldn't have known or expected danger from him.

This couldn't have come at a worse time for Australia since the mainstream media is going to pick up on it and blame video games for all this.
