Shogun 2 Help! -

Unread postby MuscularTeeth » 2 Jun 11, 6:11 pm

Hi Guys.
Shogun seems to run mostly fine for me.

My mate though, who is running windows Vista has had a big problem since the latest patch.

When he clicks on Shogun 2 in his steam library he gets the following errors (two messages pop up apparantly;

"steams too busy to answer your request right now"

and

"validating complete. all files succesfully validated."

Then nothing happens.

He has updated his drivers - sound and audio.

He has tried verifying the game cache by RMB on the game name in and then going Properties, Local files.

HE then has tried uninstalling and reinstalling shogun (he has the DVD version apparantly). THat didnt work.

THis has been going on for a week so far - so its not something with steam servers being busy we think.

We have no idea - and cant really find anything on this except for similar error messages in the early stages of when the game was released - when you WOULD expect servers to be under strain.

so can anyone give me/him some good tips. We were enjoying our coop game dammit.

thanks in advance for any tips/advice.

as an update i just found info that might work;

Uninstall your game from steam, then go into my computer/c/program files/ steam/ steam apps/common find totalwar shogun 2 I deleted everything in there that was left and I even deleted what remained from the demo.
Then go to your task bar click on start and then click on run. Type regedit and press enter
look for HKEY current user then find software, then the creative assembly, then find shogun 2 and delete it JUST DELETE SHOGUN 2
re-install your game now (i have it on disk dont know if that makes any difference)
It worked for me hope it helps you
good luck

so im going to get him to try that out.

Well we got it working after only a complete format of the HDD and reinstallation of windows, steam and shogun...
