Which Total War game should I get?

Looking to get into a Total War game, which one is the best to go far? I can't decide, some have their ups and others have downs. Pretty much a new total war player, played a demo years ago of one of them but that's about it.

What is a good recommendation??

Was looking between Napoleon, Empire & Med 2.

Really depends on what youre play style is and what period you most like.

If you do get empire I would recommend Darth mod as it fixed a few broken things. Empire has the 3 different theaters of war which I enjoyed. Napoleon is basically a stand-alone expansion for Empire which is mainly based around the campaign side of things where as Empire is more open play.

ME:TW2 is probably the best game of the 3 as the AI is quite good and it is a challenge but Cyberpunk could probably tell you more about that.

They are all 3 worth playing but if you asked me for my favourite it would be Empire with darth's mod.

I'd say ME2, and then moving on to Empire if you like it. Firstly because it's cheaper, and secondly because they're very different types of... uh, battlefields? I've not played Empire mind you, but obviously with firearm troops and such there's VERY different strategies on the battlefields. SO I reccomend get your cavalry flank charges, trebuche seiges, spear ranks and heroic knights in armor fix before moving on to the age of gunpower and en masse firing-line killing.

I still think Rome Total War was the greatest TW game. That being said, it's most likely due to the fact that it's set during my favourite period of history. The other games are all great fun, but I always find myself coming back to Rome.

So when will we see a fleshed out "Ancients Total War" set through the Greek/Roman and associated times?

I know Rome TW was some of this, but I want it with a modern engine and I want SPARTANS!

I hope after Shogun 2 they make Rome 2. Rome TW might have a dated engine, but it's still really playable and the Total Realism mod brings it to a whole new level. Rome and the Expansion are only about $10 on Steam. I whole heartily recommend it

Oh and Spartans are in Rome TW, but the Phalanx is no match for my Legions
