Two disclaimers before I start:
*Don't start slinging insults, snarky comments, personal attacks, or reopening old wounds. Please just don't. GET IT? GOT IT? GOOD.
*If you're just going to automatically respond with stuff like "Edon/NWN is on its deathbed, there's nothing that can be done about it", I ask that you don't post at all, please.
This thread is meant to be constructive, not negative!
Now that that's out of the way...
Like I mentioned above, I'm happy Edon is still even alive. I understand that NWN is an old game and lacks all the shiny new graphics and features of newer games, but there's still life in it.
We have 2 servers up, hosted by the awesome GON, and they both have slots for 40 players each. We have a lot of room for new players!
So here are my questions for you all:
1: How can we promote the server and get a little attention over here?
Blatant advertising on our part is obviously not a good idea, but I've personally been just mentioning it fairly often to my friends, and lured a few over.
2: Will we be willing to play with new people to get them going?
There's hardly a shortage of anything to do - quests, crafting, Scourge hunting, and above all, stories and RP. However, if we want to keep Edon as Edon and keep RP alive, we need to interact with new players.
3: Will you, as a player/DM/etc., pitch in to help with stuff?
I'm aware that not everybody has a literal way to contribute to the server through the toolset, etc., but everybody can make stories and RP. I understand that some people's schedules are very tight, as well. Even I'm not on as much as I used to be (between drawings and working on my own module), but I'm sure we'd all hate to see Edon die, and even the busiest person can do things like make story posts until their schedule evens out, or things like that.
Please, post your ideas and thoughts! Just remember that the aim here is constructive discussion, not personal attacks or general naysaying.
EDIT: I'd also like to note that my focus is on bring in new players, rather than trying to bring back the old ones. If old players start coming back, great! But that isn't the focus, so please keep that in mind.
