Reccomend

Im depressed sad and empty
After finishing ME3, Skyrim, Kotor and Fable I am lost without direction comrades.

I have glanced at Fallout Borderlands and the witcher. However:

Fallout: Too comical, too much humor i want to live out my save the world fantasy in a serious manner.

Borderlands: much the same as fallout also story looks alrgely uninteresting

Witcher 2: Graphics look underwhelming and Skyrim has burnt my hack and slash a little i think.

P.s have also played all Dragon Ages

Am i being ridiculous and too picky ? Kotor is without question my happiest gaming experience followed closely by ME3. Im looking for anything to get me close these games

Fallout New Vegas isn't that comical, it's a great game.

Seriously? The Witcher 2 ranked up there as one of the prettiest games of 2011 in my books.

The Witcher 2 is so far removed from Skyrim it's not funny. :P

Are you sure you weren't playing the first Witcher game? Even then the first one still looks ok tbh. Give Witcher 2 another go first, awesome game.

Also some random games off the top of my head, you may or may not have played that i recommend: Deux Ex:HR, Darksiders (sequel coming soon), Arkham City, Kingdoms of Amalur, Divinity 2 DKS. Vampire Bloodlines & Dark Messiah are both older but still good, Risen 2 is also one to look out for coming next month.

There's also Drakensang River of Time which looks like a poor mans Dragon Age, been meaning to check it out some day.

i will have to take another look. Whats gear customization etc like ? Ive found increasingly more concerned with the aesthetic of gear. That is new gear better stats look better. I feel so much more invested in an rpg when the stuff i am picking makes me want to pan around my character model to check it out.

Were you guys playing witcher 2 on pc or console ? Pc it cant compete with Mass effect or Deus Ex i personally dont think.

Also on the topic of reccomendation, not sure how much exposure "general RPG" gets on the forums. Regardless any Kotor/Revan plot fans i would suggest subbing to swtor for a month or two if only to tie the loose ends of kotor off and finish the storyline arc....... or you could consult a wiki, either or :)

The Witcher 2 was released PC exclusive. :P It only comes out on Xbox in a little bit.

And why not compete?

The Witcher 2 got several game of the year nominations. It competes just fine. The Witcher 2 has many strengths vis-a-vis those games. The story is more unique and has significantly less plot holes, as it is more focused. Not a lot of walking around talking to random people, but mostly one long big main quest that has a few distinct branching parts.

The sword combat is also some of the most entertaining I've played.

You should probably at least do enough research on the game to learn what platforms it was released on before making judgments on quality. :P You should probably do more research period. Borderlands and Fallout New Vegas are about ten thousand miles apart, and yet you dismiss them both as being similar. One is a whacky action co-op game, the other is a slow-ish paced free-form RPG with story.

And gear custimization is fine. It's not really a gear-based RPG, as opposed to a skill-talents build based RPG, but you get several options for suits of gear.

Fallout can be as serious as you want, its pretty long and the humour helps to break up how brutal it really is.

Unless of course you are talking about the new FPS ones, in which case they're worth a play but I don't really recommend them. Its probably a bit irrational but I have never really liked how Bethesda make RPGs.

Yep, +1 for 'The Witcher 2' as well. Great game and with the FREE expansion (enhanced edition) coming out soon everyone should be supporting these guys. Looks better than both ME3 and Deus Ex on PC imo.

after 8 hours of game time of the witcher 2 at ultra high settings, i dont think it compares graphically to ME3. I do find though "space genre games" appear to have better aesthetic feel due to environments having less of a grounding reality.

Im sorry i really want to like it but i just cant convince myself to play on any further :( . Perhaps ill give the fallout series a try.

Really? I thought The Witcher 2 had better graphics than ME3. Each to their own I guess.

If minor differences in graphics are all you care of though, the Fallout games won't be your cup of tea, as they have the worse graphics of the lot. Maybe you should just wait.

I found that the story is really bad. One of the first games of this nature that I just skipped through the dialogue and just followed the map waypoints.
