Star Wars Galaxies - Last day to sub plus ATMOSPHERIC FLIGHT

Unread postby Mythor » 16 Sep 11, 9:07 am

If you want to play SWG till the bitter end today is your last chance to subscribe. About 7 hours remaining, in fact.

And today they've also introduced something players have wanted for years - ATMOSPHERIC FLIGHT!
More details: http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/post ... id=1234860

TL;DR: You can launch your ships from the surface of the original 10 ground planets and fly them around the atmosphere. And crash into the ground. And you can see all the player structures as normal. And you can invite friends onto multiplayer ships. And they can use an escape pod to get back to the ground.

No, the game finishes December 15. Today's just the last day you can subscribe. After today you won't be able to sub to the game and those who're subbed (and not suspended or banned) will be able to play till December 15 for free.

I went and parked my Sorosuub yacht outside a friend's house for the hell of it. :D

Why not release the product to the public as Free to Play, and let the community drive the game and host the servers?

Yeah, still the only MMO to this day that I truly, truly loved.

I mean, I've actually spent MORE time playing WoW over the years than this, but pre-NGE, this game was the ultimate... I keep coming back every couple of years, subbing for a month or two, getting all nostalgic about things, cursing the fact that it's pretty much a ghost town, then going onto other things.

I'd definitely be all over a emulated version or something, just to keep it going.

Because Star Wars is a licensed IP that Sony don't own and basically can't afford with the declining subscriber base, especially since the big shiny new Star Wars MMO is just around the corner.

Ahh SWG how you will be missed.

I will never forget the "Solo" Group or the Hologrind (The ultimate grind?).

Also made a LOT of friends on that game, had a great social aspect.

Can't wait to see the next great sandbox mmo.
