I created a cfg in "X":\Steam\steamapps\common\rage\base called rageconfig.cfg with those settings. Looks awesome, no hit on performance and haven't had any texture problems whatsoever. *** This is for nvidia 400/500 series. Using CUDA.

Also for texture caching, you will need to create the folders "id software" and within that "rage" in the C:\Users\<Your Username here>\AppData\Local to get the directory of C:\Users\<Your Username here>\AppData\Local\id software\rage. For some reason, the game doesn't automatically create that in every instance, so you may want to tell it yourself.

direct x does not mean high quality

no, but the last time i saw streaming texture issues, green shadows, no textures at all... not recently on a release. Granted, this game runs perfectly on consoles...

lol go look up openGL vs directX you'll find very little differences between them.

and this game probablys runs perfectly on consolols cause it's a consololol port

Funnily enough, for the PS3 iD had direct use of the OpenGL wrappers to access the GPU API. They had to code for the Directx 9.0c API on the Xbox 360.

All I know is my gut says maybe.

It could almost pass as Borderlands 2...cartoony low res environments set in a desert wasteland.

The screen tearing was the biggest issue for me and was really annoying until I forced v-sync through Nvidia Control Panel. The game seems ok so far...it feels like the **** premature child of Fallout and Borderlands, but with none of the environmental interaction, character/weapon customisation/variety.

I hope the game develops some sort of storyline soon. All I've done so far is the same old "I need a favour. Go here and retrieve this and bring it back" type missions. I thought the Earth preparing itself for an apocalypse concept was a great start...perhaps that should've been the main game...

Yeah I don't mind the graphics either, now that it's glitch-free. I figure you this game needs to be viewed like a work of art. Step back and admire the picture from afar. If you get too close you're going to see the brush work and it'll look crappy.

It was a fun little game, I enjoyed it alot, just glad i got it cheap. It is only a 1 day game though, sdo you need to offset that 90$ agaisnt a day of fun. If you buy it on steam. It looks great on PC when your standign still an everything is loaded, But the video that guy posted is same as mine, an I have the best PC you can buy....SO it has nothing to do with peoples hardware or anything.... Just bad coding on ID's part.

It's working perfectly fine for me, no texture pop in at all. Thoroughly enjoying it so far, and I'm drawing out the playtime too lol.
