Rage looks terrible (visually)

Unread postby shlaimon » 6 Oct 11, 1:45 pm

So i just installed rage after installing a HUGE 18gb download, anyway my game looks pretty bad, wasnt this meant to be some high res super texture game? everything i look at looks washed out at and blurry.

Heres just one example, even in the background you can see things are blurry.

The game has no ingame settings to adjust anything, so the real question is, how can i increase the visual quality and actually use my pc to its limits instead of using 1 gpu @ 30%?

auto balancing graphic detail on the fly sounds like a terrible idea, why did they decide on that? i still want to play it though, im waiting for my delivery hopefully gets here tomorrow. just sick of having to tweak config settings for every freakin PC game these days.. did not expect this for an iD game either.

It's weird that iD built a game engine that looks stunning on console but shite on PC.

It really is incredible on the Xbox, I don't know how they've done it but it's by far the best looking game on console.

Think I might be getting a steamcode for it on PC tonight so hopefully there's some clearer answers about before I fire it up.

Not finding it too bad, myself.

Certainly could look better and the lack of a vsync switch is bugging me, but mine's not terrible.

Going to poke through the links Slazza posted anyway though. :D

Guess you will just have to wait till it's patched.

Nothing like crysis textures where you stand there thinking is this a flat texture or actually modeled.

Its unfortunate, i had high hopes for ID for this one, i hope they can release some patches to add proper settings and improve the visuals of the smaller things that really distract me from enjoying the game.

no, but the last time i saw streaming texture issues, green shadows, no textures at all... not recently on a release. Granted, this game runs perfectly on consoles...
