Unlocked tonight using a vpn, for anyone who is interested:

- preload the game
- download and install http://openvpn.net/
- rightclick in taskbar and turn it on
- re-open steam and click play (it will unlock)
- turn off vpn and uninstall it (optional)
then you're good to go

Had a 40 min screw around with 3 mates on a lan, we couldn't get the ingame friends list to show up and the join mechanic seems pretty stupid, you start a single player game and then have to open the lobby and invite people. Even once we were in the same game i couldn't make friends show up in the lobby.

Two out of the 4 players got a "this quest will not be saved to your profile" warning when we started the game and none of their stuff saved when they left, they didn't do anything different to the other friend who joined and had no problems.

You don't seem to be able to track any quest except the main questline (it actually says "you cannot track a side quest in co-op"), they better be fixing that fast or it will cut the game in half.

The gameplay itself seems pretty fun so far although we're only level 2 so i guess time will tell.

Mine is fine on all 4 PC's, I've heard some people are having trouble with static though.

The "oops we released the old development version" is a total load of rubbish btw, their reaction has shown that they were just lying about that.

BTW for anyone having trouble with co-op, I suggest trying Lan mode while using Hamachi, the games will come up in the "best match" section and it works much better.

it unlocked for me today which i thought it was strange as it was meant ot be unlocked on friday anyway had a quick go seems to be playing fine sound/controls/gfx all fine

Mysteriously unlocked for me last night. It's not a bad game. It'll keep my tied over until BF3

Try leaving the VPN on while you launch the game for the first time.

Once unlocked, you have to use the exe in the folder, not Steam itself. Atleast until it actually unlock tomorrow.

Negative, my steam works fine (just rightclick or press the play button as usual), guess it doesnt matter though since it's unlocked about now anyway.

From talking to mate who has spent a pile of time playing it on xbox: apparently it's not only intentionally impossible to "track" a side quest in co-op but nobody except the host actually gets counted as having completed it (you get the reward but it wont save it to your character), that seems like a pretty bad design point imo.

been playing a bit today, its not too bad. Some technical issues letting it back - there is no way to disable the in-game VOIP in an internet co-op game, which is a huge issue if you prefer to use Teamspeak or Ventrillo to chat since everything you say will be echoed. You literally have to 'trick' Steam into using your Line-in port as your Microphone in order to 'disable' the ingame VOIP. Really stupid.

The special attacks are pretty cool though Chopping of zombie heads in slo-mo ftw.

+1 and in saying that, why would you be playing it solo anyway?
I've been wanting to buy a PC controller for a long time now, but this game has done it for me. I can only assume any 360 controller works on PC, would I be best just to waltz down to EB or Dick Smith and pick one up?
