Seems to me that this vehicle perk does bugger all.
either that, or imdoingitwrong.

whenever i get hit with a tracer dart (which is not all that often) in a helicopter, the smoke vehicle option seems to do nothing

it wont remove the tracer dart
nor will it seem to distract incoming rockets.

tried to googlefu stuff on it but mostly its people whining about OP tracerdarts

anyone got any idea?

I think once you hit the flares after a lock it will stop the tracer darts lock, not sure but I have seen choppers do this and it seems to work, I'm sure a chopper jock will fill you in.

As far as I know for a tank if you pop smoke and back into it the smoke hides the tank from a lock.

Deploying smoke in a vehicle (or hitting the vehicle/dart with 40mm smoke) removes any tracer darts on the vehicle, but doesn't affect rockets that are already locked on.

Cool I wasn't too sure on the lock part, always been a grunt on the ground never bothered with vehicles much.
