Dearest BC2 Admin; a server setting request

Unread postby Crocadrilla » 7 Apr 11, 2:01 am

I'd like to request that "3d spotting" be turned of for GONs BC2 squad rush server (#5). My friends and I play HC but decided to switch to normal mode...but that damn built in wall hack is just too much. If you can't or won't, well thats too bad for me...but I figured I'd ask non the less.

Thanks

if you switch to normal....thats a "normal" server
and remember its the same for everyone else in the server, it aint a wallhack, just needs getting used to

Yeah, believe it or not most people have no idea what 3d spotting even is, let alone use it. It is a very powerful tool which can greatly assist your teammates. A friendly spot before you start shooting him really can help, esp. if you are incompetent (like snipers who almost never hit anything :P)

I spam it like hell on normal servers, but rarly in HC because its easier to just kill the target. On normal server I often find myself rage "WTF how could he possibly know I was there!" then remember...oh right i'm probs marked by a big red triangle :p

Yea I accept its not a imbalance...but it just feels so cheap when you get a kill by watching a triangle come out of cover then pop the ****.

Pretty much this. I really hope they don't have it in BF3 as it does dumb down the game somewhat...

I don't play BC2 atm, but I near perfected the art of sniping red triangles even when I couldn't see the player because if you know the map then you can almost always tell how far away they are.

Same, that way if you dont manage to take him out, you can be sure that someone else will.

Q spotting is good in some ways but also has its disadvantages. I think it would have been better leaving this out of the game and actually having a commander position again which could spot targets for you like in previous bf titles rather than giving it to every player in the server spamming the q button even before they move and then shooting at red dots on there screen

They should of made spotting a squad only tool, as in you spot someone and only your squad mates can see the triangle.

Having said that spotting is not a bad thing, i bound it to my thumb button and used it all the time.
