It usually doesn't help to go a carry anyway. You're pretty much guaranteed that two other wankers will pick carries, then you screwed unless the other team is terrible.

Yeah, unless my team communicates what heroes they are going (I play SD and RD/BD only) I go for a good support hero. It's actually astonishing how many people refuse to communicate during the picking phase and end up picking a completely useless hero for the team even though other players have specified their picks and there are far better synergising picks available for that player.

Also I think the standard core item build when I play Vindicator is Hellflower, Sheepstick, Whispering Helm, Enhanced Marchers and Frostplate if I get there. Hellflower is easy to build up slowly, gives great dmg and allows you an activatable silence for 5 seconds as well as 20% dmg amp, excellent for ganks if you don't want to throw out your ulti for 1 or 2 enemeis. It also allows you to farm sheepstick a lot faster and is generally useful when DPSing.

Sage's Lore is exactly the same as it's dota counterpart and is amazing for harrassing high manacost enemy heroes, even the moderate manacost enemies could be harrassed quite effectively if you can use courier to constantly supply yourself with mana and spam Sage's Lore. The Master' Incantation doesn't really help with last hitting that much because it's more of a early game thing to do and early game the Incantation doesn't do nearly enough damage early on to effectively help with last hitting. Generally depending on situation I level Sage's lore or Glyph of Silence as priority and have Incantaion as my secondary. Because Incantation only becomes useful once you have significantly boosted int I leave it until midgame before maxing it out, if you get Sage's Lore it's also good to have 1 level in Glyph of Silence some time before level 7 so you can gain int from early game ganks, the Incantation shouldn't be able to deal any significant damage early game so you can use it to attack enemy heroes without attracting creep aggro to further harrass them but don't expect to kill anyone.

As Vindicator I managed to out damage our team's beefed up nighthound and with silence the enemies had no choice but to either retreat or fight me in physical combat, which was impossible to match due to my high damage, lifesteal and sheepstick. He is a great support hero with carry potentials, but I suggest unless your team was doing really well that you don't go for high dps items and instead get Sheepstick, Frostplate and other support items.

had a few good games lately. last night i went electrician and got 4-5-27 in a 50 minute game. that guy is a freaking assist machine. with the right heroes and his static grip, they can be down one hero in a matter of seconds, making your chances of winning a team battle quite a bit better. especially if you just took out tempest and you dont really have any long range stun. i noticed i was getting targeted when i initiated with static in team battles, so i reckon next time ill get barbed. that game i was playing with pyro and witch slayer. they are fsck nuke machines. few thousand damage within a few seconds if played right.

also just played hellbringer and he is one hell of an early game harasser. if you play on the offensive and hit them every time you can, meaning they have to stay back, and you're in a lane with a carry like chronos, things can end up going quite well.

games have been decent lately, although, getting one is a bit tedious. most people just don't autobalance, just pisses me off. i think i went through about 15 games last night looking for a good one. i can understand it if they have 3 or more people and they don't want to show it, but if they aren't, i really don't understand why you wouldn't. funny thing is when people don't understand why people leave those sort of games.

another thing i don't understand is the taboo against backdooring (taking on a tower by yourself with no creep assistance). if a hero can get to a tower, and destroy the tower, unopposed, he's earned that damn tower. with the low cost of tele things, post haste, and the ability for the other team to gank the crap out of them in most circumstances, people complaining about it is a bit stupid. the only time i can see where a team wouldn't be able to get to them is if they were pushing the opposing lane hard, and if they are doing that, whoopdy fsck do. you're taking their base, let them have a tower.

the only hero i can see getting away with that with the other team relatively close is nymphora. if she catches a creep wave on the tower and her attack speed goes 200+, and teles out in time, that might be a bit lame. but that's like complaining it's not fair that tempest can tie up a whole team with her ultimate.

Back with dota, for a long time the biggest international tourney was MYM. Backdooring was illegal in MYM rules, so thats where the stigma comes from.

Ironically before MYM was big the biggest comp was CAL and the team that used to dominate that was famous for backdooring to win (in CAL backdooring was legal)

yeah i read something like that on the hon forums. something about a hero being able to absolutely rape when backdooring. being able to tele into a base, summon trees which the allies could target and tele in.

The thing is, its not like its easy. If you backdoor your going to be the only target of tower and all the creeps. Unless your REALLY farmed its going to kick the crap outta you.

I tend to not give a poop if people are complaining about backdooring. In-fact, I don't really give a poop if people are complaining at all. There's a fairly good chance I'll only ever see them once or twice in game ever again, so their opinion is pretty worthless.

That's not to say I do genuinely dirty things like killstealing, etc. I'd rather use my skills to hurt someone and help the team than increase my k:d a little bit.

been playing corrupted disciple a bit lately and i reckon he's pretty damn good. his wave coupled with his ult is a pretty good deterrent to other people, and his str gain is dang respectable. he can also end up doing a lot of damage quickly.

was just in a game 3v5 (me as corrupted, kraken and chronos against magmus, glacius, puppet, zeph, pred) and we were actually going quite well. we stayed above of them in hero kills, but of course they were able to push hard. they were fsck idiots because one of our players raged within the remake time and they didn't let the vote pass. we lasted like 45 minutes, pretty impressed.

i've been going with bottle, steamboots, hack and slash, then wingbow if i get time. he can run pretty fast with that build which is important for the ultimate he has, and the other items increase his damage, attack speed and armour.

anyone have any other builds for him?

I only really played Disciple once, so I'm not sure there.

I have been playing a shitload of Scout lately. He is AWESOME if you play him properly. I find at the start of every round, my team will be like "fsck Scout, useless hero". By the end, they're usually fairly impressed at his ability to be a team player. It's also a great character to fix your stats with if you care about them that much. I'm not really too fussed over k:d, etc though, it was just fun.

I usually go with phase over steamboots, for the attack speed and obvious creep walking for ganks, and instead of hack and slash, i'd get geometer's bane. that thing is incredible for ganking as him, with 2 clones at near max run speed. with leftover money i'd probably get wingbow or savage mace

CDisciple 2nd skill is devastating if you use it well. +200 dmg at level 7; you can 3 shot auto attack squishys. imo the best item for him is nullifier to stop people running away, he already has huge move speed and dps from skills. Once you get nullifier build a shrunken head to dominate team fights. After that go for dps (wingbow/rift) or tank (symbol of rage/geometres) carry depending on what your team needs.

The taboo against bd'ing is largely because any hero can take a tower down in 15 seconds late game, this then gives them free reign to take the barracks and then mega creeps, once you have mega creeps against non mega creeps that side has to be defended therefore giving oppurtunity to go to the other lanes and do the same

1 lane of mega creeps can be gamebreaking and bding can make that happen in 30 seconds

So for some strange reason all 1600+ end up being pubstomps or have rubbish hosts who stack their teams (KD-wise and maintain balanced PSR). So today I joined my first non-1600+ game in about a week and the results were somewhat pleasing.

It was a BD game where the captain on our team didn't know who to ban, I told him to ban Maliken and he complied. The enemy banned Soul Reaper and Pyro for some reason (Probably because it's lower tier-play and these heroes have some pretty heavy nukes which some players feel to be insta-kill), our second ban was completely wasted as our captain somehow went afk for 20 seconds and missed the ban, it ended up being on Panda instead of Tempest like I had told him to. First pick I was screaming Tempest, Brown was demanding Pink pick Puppetmaster and so Pink ends up picking Witch Slayer (Guess the hype of the new hero and his omgwtfbbq nuke ulti still hasn't worn off). My team then proceeds to tell me that Tempest isn't that good in all chat, Purple on the other side says that he's a game-winning hero, thankfully he didn't have the pick and the 2 picks on their side ended up being Puppetmaster and Vakyrie. So obviously I snatch Tempest at the first opportunity and my other ally took Soulstealer, which was good synergy with Tempest. Purple (Who I suspect to be the only organised player on the other team) knew that he needed to support and initiate and they already had 2 carries so Lego was the obvious choice, to my surprise yellow picks Disciple, another extremely squishy carry. My team then goes for Thunderbringer and Andromeda, both poor picks in my opinion as we already have 2 good mid solo heroes and could have used more meatshielding power. The last pick was on the enemy team and was demented shaman, and extremely powerful support hero who I was quite afraid of.

TB calls mid before the game starts, Andromeda then decides she'd wonder into mid, she was shouted at and went solo top. I was in the forest and watched as Legionnaire and Demented snuck between our towers and procceeded to decimate the creeps there, I rushed over to help as quickly as I could, Legionnaire managed to kill Andro who was foolish enough to wander into his spin range but I managed to get Shaman straight afterwards and flee from Lego. For the first 10 minutes I watched as Witch Slayer died 4 times, Andro died 3 times, TB died twice and Soulstealer died 3 times. The team was already calling GG and Andromeda told me to stop farming and somehow prevent her from running headfirst into 2 heroes. I ignored her and managed to farm a portal key 13 minutes, TB was cursing and calling everyone noob and Soulstealer was never with the team, always off on his own trying to farm far pushed lanes and getting ganked. Things were looking pretty dire at 16-3 at around 18 minutes and they pushed to our inner towers, the team was already calling a concede before they have even taken the tower protecting the rax, 4 voted yes but I rejected it, because I had to go help allies and they were unable to hold their lanes resulting in our towers being lost and the enemy hunting around our forest, I was only able to farm my portal key at 18 minutes, but as soon as I got it I laid it down on 3 enemies and we succeeded in killing 2 of them. I had rejected 3 concede votes at this point and TB was screaming GG at the other team. Anyways, the game got turned completely around and here's the result:

And just after our second genocide I said to my teammates: "Tempest isn't really that good is he?"

Probably the most satisfying turnaround and victory I've had since I started playing.

Soz, what you described is pretty much what will ALWAYS happen when you dip below 1600.

I lol at the players who criticize my, or someone elses, build on a character, only for whomever they were criticising to carry the team to victory. I've done this a few times with Electrician now.

i fsck love it when i play a game, someone leaves (or two... or three), we end up losing because we are down at least one and we don't have anyone super awesome on our team, and then i lose the same amount of fsck psr as i would if it was 5v5.

i lose psr, and then have to play with more fsck retards, meaning it happens more often. they really need to dynamically update psr win/loss during the game if someone leaves. and if two of your team mates leave and it says you can leave without penalty, there shouldn't be any fsck psr loss.
