New Borderlands DLC: "Claptrap's new Robot Revolution"

Unread postby TheTacoMan » 12 Aug 10, 1:28 am

Looks like all those rumours of a new Borderlands DLC based around claptraps were true, as this DLC will have you putting down an uprising led by the cute little mascots.

“A year ago Borderlands was an untested brand that through hard work and a lot of passion, turned out to be one of the best-selling, claptastic and skagtacular games we have ever created,” said Christoph Hartmann, president of 2K, in an official release. “A year later, we are releasing our fourth DLC installment, Claptrap’s New Robot Revolution, which illustrates our enthusiasm for creating highly entertaining content that enhances a franchise. In addition to serving as the perfect bookend to the original game, what gamer doesn’t love a kung-fu-wielding Ninja Assassin Claptrap with nunchuck skills?”

Claptrap’s New Robot Revolution will be released on the PSN, Windows PC and Xbox LIVE this September for US$9.99 or 800 Microsoft Points.

Interesting to note that the price hasn't been jacked up for AU on Steam.

Grab it before 2K realises this and jacks the price up.

Same, didn't even realise it was out until Bickety told me. Just shows how out of touch I am with gaming in general XD.

Without giving too much away, don't allow two weeks to get through...maybe an afternoon at the very most.

Might wait till it comes round on sale like the rest of the dlc did then. Bound to get cheaper at some point.

It is only $9.99US and with the exchange rate at the moment that's about $10.31.

I'll admit it doesn't seem as good as Knoxx but still at least they are adding to it. What I don't get is why the patch to update the levels to 69 was not released with the DLC? Apparently it will be released later this month, but that is just stupid considering the rewards for completing a lot of the missions is cash and XP (and both myself and Ralph are topped on Lvl 61. :?

$10 for an afternoon's entertainment x4 for each character is cheaper than a 6 pack and less painful than an enema.

Agreed. I can't see how one could level up to 69 on claptrap alone. There's gong to be some tooing and froing back to Knoxx to get the required XP. Maybe that's their plan, keep players interested by going back. Just until the next major release.

I'm a staunch advocate for this game and the DLCs so far, but this left me a cold and disappointed.

Finished it with Bickety. Pretty much what he said, when you're playing these DLC's with a maxed out character with $200,000,000, a fair chunk of incentive to play is lost. Most of the missions give XP and cash as rewards which becomes pointless, and they haven't increased the levels of mods, grenades mods, ammo storage etc. etc.

Hidden: show
The game's strength needs to be in the gameplay and storyline, and unfortunately I don't think claptrap does it as well as Knoxx. The latest DLC reminds me too much of the Zombie DLC, the game's size limit is hidden through making the player walk everywhere, and the annoying use of tedious collection missions. In the Zombie one it was collecting brains. In Claptrap it's collecting parts. Boooring.

I quite enjoyed the humour but as you say, when you are maxxed and have maxxed cash/weapons there's no reall rewards which sucks.
