GiB (GON in Borderlands)

The FPS and RPG had a baby! A huge gaming world, four classes, annoying robots, co-op mode, and more guns than ammo. Borderlands 1 and 2 discussion!

It has chat functionality. Not sure how good it is though.

Both the ingame text chat and voice chat are pretty abominable. There's no push to talk key and it seems to oscillate between being mostly serviceable or cutting out frequently. The text chat isn't much better, there's room for about 4 lines of text on screen, and the text is just plain white and doesn't stay around very long, so it's very easy to miss.

Which is what I prefer, but some people I know don't want to install it.

But as I figured out with a mate who was initially having problems hosting a server online and then found we had to use gameranger for him to host only to discover that it didn't support voice chat either and that the thing we were using to communicate with mainly (which was steam chat) has voice functionality built in. Who doesn't have steam these days? Even if your Borderlands wasn't the steam version you could still use it. And you just had to invite people to the conversation and everything worked.

As for the game, my gs details are :
Account : Bickteybambam
Lvl 50 Hunter, Lvl 37 Brick and Lvl 37 Siren.

Also have a Lvl 4 Soldier but I'm holding off using him till Ralph gets his copy of the game later this week. :p

I use Skype for all my firend-friend in game comms these days actually. Far better quality, does not reuqire a server, and none of this push to talk malarky.

I like push to talk, myself. But each to their own. I rage too much to have anything voice-activated. :P

Sounds like me a bit Falstar. I tend to loose expletives without realising it sometimes, despite my attempts to do otherwise.

We need to organise a game sometime this week, all new characters, if possible. I'm busy Wednesday and Saturday night, have an early night Friday night too probably... hmm. I'm also busy tomorrow night and work late Thursday night...

...All right, maybe next week?

TF2 mixed with Diablo is the best way I can describe it.

Or what if Hellgate London was based on TF2 and was actually good.

Next week should be fine for me.

Haven't played in a week or so. Kinda trying to hold off until the Zombie DLC is released for PC. Wish we had a date!

Off topic, but I don't think anything could have saved Hellgate London tbh. The setting was just bland and boring for the most part. Borderlands is fun, and that's what gives it appeal.
