Borderlands Graphics - Do you like?

The FPS and RPG had a baby! A huge gaming world, four classes, annoying robots, co-op mode, and more guns than ammo. Borderlands 1 and 2 discussion!

Do you like the cel-shader graphics in Borderlands?

Thought i'd see what people thought of the Cel shading render technique used in Borderlands. :D

Cel-shade-esque really. But yes, it's nice, something different.
Would "regular" graphics have been better? Not sure. The current style suits the tone of the game so I think they made the right choice. :)

Some games are better suited to using such graphics and Borderlands is definitely one of them. Basically the more "serious" a game is, the more realistic the graphics usually get and vice-versa.

I like the style, but it doesn't look good at the resolution and graphics quality settings i am required to run it at :[

I really like it.

Given the setting, "normal" graphics would have suffered from brown/grey boring shooter syndrome. Having them done in this style make it far more interesting to look at, IMO.

I really like it, the PS3 chugs a bit to load the textures occasionally but that's about the only issue I've got.

Reminds me of XIII, which I bloody loved.

It's a nice change and it suits the game since it doesn't take itself too seriously

It's very cool. All the COD style games look the same with every iteration featuring a slightly more realistic explosion. This is a bit different and I like the cartoony feel. I also like TF2 so yeah I like comic style FPS I guess.

Art style is fantastic in this game, especially in some of the later levels, really nice level design and seeing some green after so much grey and brown was refreshing.

I like the style but (yes EA I'm looking at you) I don't want to see it used in 'every' goddamn game for the next few years.

I do like the graphics in this game, though I found it interesting when troubleshooting a mate's 8800GTS and HD4870 that both looked worse than my current GTX 260 I'd been playing it with. Looked like it had better post processing and smoother cell shading for some reason. None of the game settings were changed, only the videocard and drivers were swapped around a bit, and it went back to looking better once I put my card back in. 191.07 driver was used for my 260 and the 8800GTS, Catalyst 9.10 was used for the radeon HD4870.

Also the cards tested were 320MB and 512MB cards, Whereas my 260 is 1792MB. I did notice the game never stayed completely smooth on the test cards, but ran perfectly on mine (at 1080p, with Core i7 & 6Gb ram).
