Depends on why you stopped playing in the first place.

If you didn't like the grind levelling since 1.9 is a stack easier.
If you didn't like the rifters ganking you, they are still there but now get enthusiastically chased by lvl50s because killing rifters is now a daily quest.
If you didn't like lack of endgame content, that is still the same as it was.
Server populations are better, except for Nezekan which didn't get merged with any server at all.

Not sure what else to tell you.
End game content will increase with 2.0 Assault on the Balaur homelands, with a lvl cap increase to 55. The scheduled release date is September 7.

There are now a stack of repeats (x10) you can do that reward decent xp and after the 10th repeat you get a sack which can be opened to give a random enchant stone. I was at 43 prior to 1.9 and the repeats have been wonderful 43-48 in less than 2 weeks (playing on average, no more than 3 hrs a day).

Some people don't like repeats but most of them just encourage stuff you would do in normal play anyway - like go kill monsters around the lake, you have to kill them anyway for other quests so may aswell get the repeats and their rewards anyway.

All the servers are a bit uneven. Basically they opened up free transfers and each faction flocked to the servers they were winning on. So now they have shut down transfers till they can figure out a way to balance it.

I myself was never on Nezekan. I've always been a part of a larger internation guild so Nezekan was never even considered as a server to play on. I'm not sure how many Aussies are still around given the huge disadvantage latency places us at. In fact most of the Aussies I know left are ex-L2 players like myself so not sure what that says.

If you are going to move server have a serious think about where you want to go. Either way you won't be allowed on to an unbalanced server till they balance it out. And server moves are completely off until they put their control measures in place.

Best advice I can give is lurk on the official forums and try and sass out which server will suit you best. If you want fort raids during week nights your only choice is Nezekan, however if you are happy to participate in forts only on the weekends then another more populated server may be better.

Fonzey I'm not entirely sure what you are asking. Recruit a friend only allows a single character access to lvls 1-7.

Like a re-sub incentive thingo, someone gives me 1 week free play time and if I resub they get a free month or something too. Pretty sure there isn't though.

To the best of my knowledge the "recruit a friend" is for new accounts only I'm afraid.

Hmmm while you're here, i keep getting a 'Unable to contact launcher update server' error, I've reinstalled the launcher and all that jazz. Is there some sort of maintenance going on now or something?

Not to my knowledge.

I think a few people were getting that error in the update to 1.9, but I couldn't say. In my case the download just kept failing and I couldn't get it to 100% till nearly a month after the 1.9 update.

The only thing I can think of is that the update sever has changed IP too and somehow the NCSoft launcher has issues with it. I'm not entirely sure how the launcher itself works (other than being stupid) but I could see this as being the case, those of us with the right updates have no problems because it doesn't need to check the update server.

Best bet would be to look at the official forums under tech support. NCSoft support is next to useless, you will get better answers from the players who have had the same problem and managed to fix it themselves.

Servers have moved to Texas but of course support hasnt included updated information in their latest patch.
Internode proxy no longer works either so no ping gains for us as yet.

Couple of temporary fixes suggested here.

Waiting to see if Internode fixes proxy though.
Ping worse than before atm.

Unfortunately the servers moving closer to the west coast is no guarantee of ping reduction. The centre has to be well serviced with incoming networks or we will actually have more issues, not less.

If I remember correctly the beta was tested from texas or thereabouts. I had 50ms increase at most when the game went live and part of that increase would have been due to the additional traffic.

So your guess will be as good as mine as to whether we see any reduction at all.
