I totally could, but even though it's cheap I can't really justify it...yet, depends how desperate I get to have a more reliable/constant reduction in ping :P

Has anybody here been using Smoothping? I know there was an annoucement it was free with Aion, however I have heard its no longer free to use with Aion.

Edit:

Apparently you need to use the Aion Servers only, if you use the other smoothping servers then it will kick you after 20mins.

Hello, just wondering if the Aion gateway ever went ahead, I am using Pingboss at the moment but would much rather use one native to my ISP,

Thanks,

Matt

if this was a purely pve game sure unless your intending to do hardcore raiding, but this is a pvp game and ping is everything, even if they move the servers to the west coast and we can get sub 200 pings with proxy its still an extreme disadvantage that forces us to be alot better then those with local to just break even... I personally don't think it needs justifying its a requirement ... if i had 700 ping (or even the 400-550 this gateway gives) i wouldnt play at all since pvp will be fairly hopeless.

that and i bumped my cap down from 40gig to 25gig which roughly covers the aion sub and lp... see node not having a proxy is costing you premium subs too!! hint hint (just incase not obvious enough PROXY node do a proxy !!)
with an mmo who's got time to download stuff anyway right?

True enough, but I've a long way to go to get to 50, if I don't stop playing before then. Not sure MMO's are a long term thing for me anymore (Damn you real life!) >.>

Do people even BOTHER reading before posting? Seriously.
Not to mention the fact there's a freaking stickied post about setting the gateway up.

Peoples on the interwebs make me laugh.

Need a little help please.

Im using Widecap with Smoothping. I've set it up based on the smoothping site and these instructions. Also have putty running and logged into any of the Aioneast and west servers.
My problem is that when I enable Widecap Aion gives me an Authentication error on login. Disable Widecap and I can login.
When loading Aion it says Aion loading via Widecap, when widecap is enabled. If its disabled I only see Loading Aion.

Anyone know where im going wrong?

* Click Add New Proxy
* Type in 127.0.0.1:1080 in the text field next to where it says "Server:Port"
* Press OK
Now add a new network rule to forward Aion's ports:
* Click New Rule in the Network menu
* In the Chain menu, select Unused. Make sure the 127.0.0.1:1080 appears in the list underneath
* In the addresses menu, click the ADD button underneath the list for "Address that should go through PROXY"
* Leave Address set to "any" and under ports, click on "Single or range", then type in: 2106,7777,10251
* Press OK
* Press OK to save the new rule
Now set Widecap to proxify all programs system-wide:
* Click "View Programs"
* Click "Proxify all programs" and "Whole system"
* Select the rule you just made in the using rule list
* Click Apply
Actually you have to add the aion.bin file inside the bin32 folder on the rules (proxifier) to get it work.

Given up on Widecap as it seems to have caused my Champions online launcher to not work, Proxycap works great.

Althought this morning I cannot see or chat to any of the channels.

I guess Proxy service blocked their online survey, disabling australian/or other nation's demographics on their traffic system. (so they can't distinguish their own customer, US or Australian?) And I bet this is only a test case, otherwise they would lost a big number of user who use proxy service.

(I can only assume the gold farmer might using same proxy service too)

With lowerping, you can just use one of the WoW servers.

I'm currently using East Coast - Meerkat 2 with ~270ms latency.

Also, I swear to God, if someone makes a separate thread on this issue I'm going rage so hardcore.
