While I get that the training F88's are cheaper for practice, having troops practice on something other than what they'll actually use in combat is pointless. Budget cutting at it's worst and a dangerous policy IMO.

I think I only ever saw one of those training F88's when I was a cadet. Mostly now they use simulators which pretty accurately replicate a standard range shoot but with better variety of weapons and scenarios. I've been going to a local civilian range for some additional practise, but they only have .22's which doesn't quite work for me.

We dont. It's only cadets. Even if you're not firing live rounds you're using your issue weapons at the WTTS.

To your point fryzie. Don't go on BFA scores as a gauge for fitness. I'd focus more on your endurance marching and like you said, battle fitness (Tyre flips, wall climbs, stores carrying, rope climbs etc)
