Week 3 update.

Excercised 6 out of 7 days with missing Sunday of last week.

Food : Same as previous week with the exception of pizza on Friday night.

Below is a day to day break down. All weighed at the same time of the day.

Saturday = 86.8
Sunday = 86.7
Monday = 86.7
Tuesday = 87.4
Wednesday = 86.7
Thursday = 86.6
Friday = 85.5
Saturday = 85.9

My treadmill broke on Saturday the 13th August so I have been running outside for the past week. I've noticed that I don't sweat as much running outside than I do on the treadmill. I may need to run a little bit further than I would on the treadmill.

I managed to run 5.25km ( in about 40 minutes ) today which felt a lot better than the previous days where I only managed a little over 4km.

I've also bought a pair of Asics Gel Kayano shoes as my feet are starting to get sore in my New balance shoes I've had for a few years now. Just waiting on them to be delivered. Shops want $250 for them or I can get them delivered for $140 and I wonder how much markup do shops have on running shoes.

I'm also considering going into the City to Bay fun run but I'm unsure which distance I should enter into. I can either go the 6km or the 12 km run. At both distances I'm sure I'll have to walk a bit of it. I may settle for the 6km for this year although I do have another 5 weeks of training before the big day.

I only lost 0.9 kg this week but I have had to punch another hole in my belt ( 1 cm away from previous hole). I went for a 6km walk the other day and even with the new belt hole my pants were starting to fall down. Another week and I'll think another hole will be required.

I still have no cravings for fast food, soft drinks or chocolate and the thought of eating McDonalds, KFC or any fast food turns my stomach. Even pizza on Friday night wasn't satisfying as it normally is.

Total weight loss since 30th July 2011 = 4.5 kg.
Total weight loss since 7th January 2011 = 13.8kg.

For gym shoes and clothes I use www.eastbay.com, is that where you are getting stuff? They have really cheap compression gear which I love post workout when I'm sore.

I also can't stand the smell of fast food joints anymore, Maccas turn my stomach especially. I still love a good binge on "bad" foods once a week, but I find myself at old fashioned burger joints rather than the big fast fod places.

Week 4 update.

Excercised 6 out of 7 days with missing Wednesday of last week with a loss of 2.3kg.

Food :

No junk food what so ever the last week. Usually have 3 weetbix in the morning but for some reason I could only stomach 1 1/2 on a daily basis. Lunch every day has been brown rice with s protein ( either kangaroo steak , chevepchichi's or steak) with salad. Dinner was what ever we normally have.

Workout regime:

Stretch then run 6km
Weights for 30 - 45 minutes either upper or lower body. Two days per week is a heavy workour session.
Lunch
3km walk to shops ( usually to get lunch for the next day)

Below is a day to day break down. All weighed at the same time of the day.

Saturday = 85.9
Sunday = 85.9
Monday = 85.8
Tuesday = 85.1
Wednesday = 84.9
Thursday = 84.8
Friday = 84.7
Saturday = 83.6

I usually have a really long and hard workout on Fridays and punish either the upper or lower body as I have all day. I managed to run my 6.1km in 43 minutes which was 2 minutes quicker than my previous best. I can really start to notice my increased fitness levels now.

Had to make another hole in my belt during the week with another cm lost.

I've been looking at getting some protein powder to help with muscle growth/recovery although I am eating plenty of protein post workout so I'm wondering if I could do without it.

Still no cravings for all the food I used to love and even walking past KFC the other day I almost felt like throwing up and from the stench.

Total weight loss since 30th July 2011 = 6.8 kg.
Total weight loss since 7th January 2011 = 16.1kg.

Week 5 update.

Excercised 7 out of 7 days of last week with a loss of 0.8 kg.

Quote:
Food :

Had a lot of cravings for food I used to like this past week, which felt weird. Hit the tequila on Sunday night and a few bits of chocolate.

Quote:
Workout regime:

6.1 km run each day
Weights on
Saturday and Tuesday

Below is a day to day break down. All weighed at the same time of the day.

Saturday = 83.6
Sunday = 83.9
Monday = 83.9
Tuesday = 84.2
Wednesday = 83.8
Thursday = 83.6
Friday = 83.1
Saturday = 82.8

I felt extremely tired this week, excessivley tired for some reason. Was falling asleep on the train, in my arm chair early in the nights. I hadn't changed anything in my diet and was eating good fresh food.

Yesterday while on my run my left calve became sore to the point of not being able to run on it. I will need to take today off as it is still a bit sore to walk on. I thought I had kept up my fluid intake enough to avoid cramp. It's sore below the muscle but above the ankle.

I've managed to run the 6.1km in 42 minutes this week with most of the time I am doing it in 43 minutes. Much better than a few weeks ago when I was constantly around 45 - 46 minutes.

I'm also starting to fit into my clothes that I havent been able to in years. My size 87 jeans now fit where I was in a 92. Medium shirts now fit also which actually look a little baggy on me.

Total weight loss since 30th July 2011 = 7.6 kg.
Total weight loss since 7th January 2011 = 16.9kg.

That tiredness sounds familiar... Exercise fatigue?

Stop running for a week. Replace it with an extra day of weights.

your muscles are not the only thing that needs to recover from a workout

your nervous and endocrine system also need time to recover. This could be why your feeling tired. Your hormones could be slightly off balance

7 days a week is far too much. This also tells me your not working hard enough on each day. Try going harder on any particular day and increase your weights workouts.

I think I've come to the same conclusion, maybe if i run 4 days a week with a few weight sessions thrown in.

I did a weight session today and noticed the lack of strength. I had trouble with the bench press with the same weight I've had for over a week.

I'll take it easy for the next week and see how my body recovers.

Thankyou for your responces, will help me find a nice balance, afterall I tend over do things.

you have already lost a fair bit of weight, you dont need to keep smashing yourself into the ground. if you are eating right then 3-4 workouts a week should be ample.
personally i run at lunch mondays, weights monday, thursday and friday nights with basketball thursday. i think thats enough

I took Sunday off and had some hot chips at Glenelg , chinese for dinner and some Coronas today while sitting under the verandah. Scales say I have put on 1.5 kg since Saturday, must be water retention as I did drink a lot over the weekend.

Week 6 update.

Put on 900 grams this week. Not surprising as I really didnt work out that much and took a week off.

Excercised 2 out of 7 days last week. My left calf was very sore over the weekend and had a tooth pulled during the week didnt help either.

Food : Diet took a pounding this week as I dove into comfort food and after the tooth being pulled hit the chocolate custard, soups and really anything soft that I could get my hands on.

Below is a day to day break down. All weighed at the same time of the day.

Saturday = 82.8
Sunday = 83.6
Monday = 84.2
Tuesday = 84.5
Wednesday = 83.6
Thursday = 84
Friday = 83.7
Saturday = 83.7

It's amazing how one tooth can cause such headaches, dizzyness and a general feeling of doom. Was surprised that I managed to limit the weight gain to less than a kilo this week.

I am looking forward to hitting the track again this week and working out a bit more.

Total weight loss since 7th January 2011 = 16.0kg.

Took a hiatus from the massive weight loss program I was running. Think the last post was the 10th September so that would make it close to 6 weeks off and I think I needed it.

During that time I reduced my workouts to 3 - 4 times a week. No weights during this time, it was all running. I actually did a personal best over 6km with a time of 37 min and 30 seconds or an average of just under 10km/hr.

I also relaxed my diet and ate all the goodies like chocolate, hot chips, hot dogs, take away pepsi and of course beer and tequila. I noticed that even with the increased calorie intake that my weight remained around the 81 - 82kg mark. It was almost like I had the balance right between calorie intake and excercise.

Now the wife wanted to start to lose weight and decided that we'd both would enbark on my so called "boot camp" regime. So, here I am, back for another 4 weeks to see what I can lose in this time.

--------------------
Week 1.

Excercise

4 * 6km runs
Sit ups = 45 a day
Push ups = 20 a day

Starting Weight : 82.4kg
Ending weight : 80.6

Net loss : 1.8kg

I did weight myself after my run and hit 80.0kg. So close to breaking 80kg and I know I'll smash that this week. Only need to get to 79.7 to have lost 20kg this year.

Goal weight would be 76 - 77kg at the end of the fourth week.

Try out explosive star jumps. Do 10 at the start of every minute for 10 minutes. It gets your metabolism racing and you'll drop even more weight.

Week 2 update;

Ate resaonably well this week except for Tuesday. Got stuck into chips and chocolate but was a one off.

I managed to break my personal best for 6.1km with a time of 36 minutes 30 seconds beating my previous best by 1 minute.

I may also need to add a new hole to my belt, guess my waist is shrinking more than I thought.

Exercise :

Ran 6 out of 7 days. 6.1km for 2 days, 5.1km for 3 days, sprint training for the last

Situps - 45 - 70 per day

Obliques - 20 per day each side

Push ups - 25 per day

Weight

Starting weight : 80.6kg
Ending weight : 79.6kg

Net loss/gain : 1.0kg

Would've thought I'd lose a bit more this week. At one stage the scales read 79.2 kg but that was after a run.

As of today I have lost 20.1kg this year or 20% of my former body mass.

Current BMI is now 24.6 which is down from 30.8.

I'm still on track to reach my target weight goals for this 4 week period.

Week 3 update;

My apetite has disappeared, I'll eat lunch after my run and workout and then I won't eat until dinner. Some days I won't even eat dinner yet I am not hungry. Started some weights today to see if that will kick start my appetite.

I'm running 5.1km under 30 minutes on a regular basis now.

Exercise :

Ran 5 out of 7 days. , 5.1km for 5 days,
Situps - 45 - 105 per day

Obliques - 20 per day each side

Push ups - 35 - 50 per day

Weight

Starting weight : 79.6kg
Ending weight : 78.1kg

Net loss/gain : 1.5kg

Any suggestions of losing excess skin of my stomach ?
