Background, I'm fat. Very fat. Went from being a runner who was going to enlist in the Army and loved pushups, to a very overweight bloke that smoked a pack a day - all at the tender age of 25.
Kicked the ciggies in January and going strong on that front so my fiance decided we'd do the C25K (5k depending on how fast you run). It seemed good in theory, but I was apprehensive as I wouldn't have walked more than a few hundred meters in the last few years in one go and had lost any sense of enjoyment that I used to get from working out/running.
So, I got home from work today, changed, and walked across the road to the nice secluded oval with my fiance and we began, using a C25K app on an iPhone to guide us when to run/walk. I pushed myself, managed to walk when I had to walk, and run when I had to run.
How do I feel? Pretty bloody good actually, my legs are wobbly, my calves and feet are sore, but I actually enjoyed it and am looking to doing the next step on Wednesday evening!
