Anyone got the free My Fitness Pal app on iPhone? I just got it this morning and it's pretty damn cool. After a fair bit of fiddling around (putting in your personal details (weight, age, height etc) Goal, food intake and exercise regime for the day), it tells you your outlook, where you may have slipped up and where you may have been under.

You have to update it daily, but if you're doing the same thing week in and out like I am, it's pretty quick to just copy and paste a previous day from the week before and edit any small changes you may have made in your diet or exercise.

Quite handy and informative. I definitely recommend it.

=beast= wrote:what protein powder you using?

I got 6kg of this protein: http://professionalwhey.com.au/catalog/ ... ucts_id=61

It's plain and I actually like the taste of it with just water. Yes, I am weird, I know 8)

After buying 6 kg at under $170 delivered to my door step, I can no longer justify spending more on *popular* brands for less quanity, and I never will again. Funny thing is, this protein has more stuff in it than most of that other expensive **** anyway.

(Protip: If you're interested in getting some, but you don't want to drink it with water and are a bit scared of the plain taste, you can have it with skim milk and add some of that Cottee's low-fat/diet chocolate topping. Actually tastes awesome. My mate does it)

The only other supplement I use with that is l-leucine. I add a teaspoon (about 5g) to shakes 2 times a day. It's meant to...

# Help to preserve lean muscle tissue
# Preserve muscle glycogen
# Improve performance
# Supply the body with energy during bouts of extreme exertion
# Increase fat loss
# When consumed alone, Leucine is now believed to be the only amino acid that can increase protein synthesis
# When combined with other proteins give a huge anabolic response
# It has also been shown to speed up the recovery process and therefore stimulate muscle growth and prevent muscle breakdown.

A lot of that is probably wank, but eh, why not, plus it's still left over from my diet last year.

=beast= wrote:also, are you using any other supps?

Within the next week or two, I'll be getting some stuff that I ordered online from the UK and US. They're not really body building supplements (well I suppose 1 is, and that's l-arginine pills), but it's more for general health.

=beast= wrote:Carnatine is apparnetly good for rapid weight loss

Yeah I've done some reading up and I was looking at getting this product, but tbh, I don't think I need it. I reckon I can get the weight off without any fat burners and just keeping to a strict diet.

It's annoying though, because I'm such a sucker for all this stuff. I WANT IT ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

yeah not shiz... its tempting to try everything. Its even worse when you can actaully afford it, i generaly have to convince myself to not go overboard

i just stick with whey, glutamine and creatine. and i might have some pre-workout thing occasionly. Im using MRI black powder atm. pretty good

as for carnatine. alot of the bodybuilders i know say its very effective. But i dont want to buy any more suppliments. However a few of them do competitions and get ridiclously cut, so i guess i can take their word for it

might give this PW whey are try

Week 3: 72 (-3.5 kg)

Well it seems that I'm still not losing weight as quickly as I thought/hoped I would (Suppose that's actually a good thing), but I think it seems to be more constant now at about half a kilo a week. I have roughly 4 weeks left of my diet, so I reckon I'm looking at another 2 or 3 kilos of proper weight to lose (not counting dehydration faze) from now until the end of my diet.

I seem to be maintaining my muscle mass and strength pretty well so far which I'm pleased about, and my abs are starting to come up quite good (I'm starting to get veins that I haven't seen since last year).

I'm still a bit weary of my shoulder, so I'm still being really careful with certain exercises and the weight that I'm lifting.

Other than that, I don't think I have anything else to report!

Week 3 = Success.

Week 4: 72.3 (-3.2 kg)

I've actually put on weight :|

This week has been a strange one indeed. Last Friday/Saturday I had gotten down to 70.8 which I was rather impressed about. I avoided drinking at my mates 25th on Friday night, and avoided drinking again on Saturday night for my sister's 24th. The next day is where it all went wrong.

On Sunday evening I had a blow out. It was a friends wedding and I had a LOT of stuff I shouldn't have. I figured that if I was going to blow out, I might as well do it in style. The list includes:

-3 strawberry daiquiris (which were **** awesome by the way)
-2 thick slices of white bread with butter
-1 entrée serving Battered calamari
-2 main serves of chicken breast with stuffing and skin
-1 chocolate moose pudding thingy (Amazing.)
-3 small love heart chocolates
-2/3 bottle of red

When I got home I weighed myself and I was over 74 kg. The next day after my body had evacuated... I was down around 73 kg.

Despite that, I don't think I've put on any actual body fat. My stomach is looking flatter and my abs are coming up really well. Even when I grab my stomach, it just feels like there is less there to hold on to. I'm also becoming more and more vascular which is great. (There are also 2 tell-tale signs I get when I start cutting up. My belly button sorta changes shape and stretches out, and I get a little dip just above my top 2 abs and just below my sternum. They're both clearly noticeable now)

Over the last week, I've started taking supplements other than just protein and L-Luecine. These include:

-Acetyl L-Carnitine
-Beta Alanine
-Alpa Lypoic Acid (ALA)
-Conjugated Lynoleic Acid (CLA)

It's probably a little too early to tell if they're really helping, but I did manage to get 4 reps out on a 100 kg bench when my previous best was 3. So I'm pretty damn happy about that.

In conclusion, I'm putting my weight gain down to water retention and perhaps even a little muscle gain, as I don't think I'd fluctuate that heavily, simply just because of 1 and only *little* blow out. (Hope that's the case anyways...)

24 days left. My right calf is ****. Back to bike riding I guess!

Im not a body builder bit creatine is very effective work out supp.

You normally gain creatine through eating red meat, your body does nto produce it naturally, took me a week or so taking it 3-4 times a week to start noticing the difference.

Ive never heard it doing weight loss but its prob true in a way as it allows you to do a much more intense work out, its supplys the energy to your muscles so they dont get tired as quick and I've notcied a big difference personally.

I take 1/2 teaspoon once a day in my Pro Shake of micronized creatine, I use raging bull. You get 333 serves out of this tub so last quite a long while.

I think it all started when doing calf raises on an incline leg press machine (My gym doesn't have anything else for calves). It's an injury I've had for a little while now and it's refusing to go away because I haven't stopped running since I got it. Some days it hurts worse than others but it usually only hurts for the first 5 minutes of a run... but the run on Monday evening really nailed me, so I'm taking some time off it.

I was thinking about taking creatine, but then thought against it, as it makes you retain water, which is something I don't really want. I'll probably jump on a cycle once my diet is finished.
