that would be awesome - where abouts are you located? (since your thingy says Barrier Reef, I am assuming north qld somewhere?) Obsession Ink do some really good tatts, from what I've seen.
As my designs are simple, I have a family friend to do mine on the cheap.

oh wow - that's one of the best I've seen recently. Did you design from scratch or with aid? The only thing that irks me is the placement of the heart not being quite anatomical.

Thank you - the design and concept were my own.

But the design I had was changed by the tattooist to suit being a tattoo.

Originally I had the heart off to the side, but really the outline is there to be the place from which my soul is wrested, rather than the heart itself (i just like the look of the dotted anatomical heart, rather than a 'love heart' of any kind.) And because the heart will remain blank, with the rest being coloured, being in the centre gives a little better balance.

Put it this way, I got exactly what I wanted (with a boatload of pain) so I'm pretty happy

another question - and this is purely because i just don't understand, so don't rage at me, but why do people get tattoos in places they can't see or are often hidden, such as on your back (although i am guessing as a guy, you can show it off by going topless around the beach and stuff), and chicks with "tramp stamps" or tattoos on their arse cheek, etc? i know its just personal preference, but the Aspergers in me doesn't understand why get something if you can't ever see it?

I think it's a case of the tattoos aren't always for display. I have a friend who has two tattoos on the back of the bottom part of leg. So you can only see them when they're not wearing anything long. So in that sense, it can be covered or shown.

Personally, when I get a tattoo, I will probably get it up near my shoulder, despite never wearing tank tops or the likes. But in that location, I can show people when I want them to see, but keep it covered if/when I need to.

For some people there's a time and place for when they want to show it. Same reason why most of us don't tattoo our faces. Mine is on my upper shoulder which can be only seen if I'm wearing a tank top. Given the nature of my work, I have maintain a particular professional image and wouldn't be flashing tattoos all over the place.
