Oh by the way if its Scotish its Whisky and Irish is Whiskey.

Scotch is how the Scots say Scottish and hence their whiskey is Scotch.

Wow, they have some stupidly rare ****... 40 year old Glenfarlas

The pricing is all weird though, some is noticibly cheaper than Dan Murphys and some is a noticibly more.

Just pored through the whole thread (and drooled), and can't believe that's the first post on Jap Whisky!>!>!>?!??!!?!?!/

Japanese Whisky is only second to Scottish. It is awesome. Their knowledge of Whisky is amazing. I'll get photos when I come back from Japan n a couple months of what I've found :)

I should dive right into this topic, simply epic :D. Picked this up recently, was surprised to find out they don't make this one anymore. I'll probably have it for a bloody long time.

what are people's favourite cheaper scotches? I tend to have them a bit more often through the winter and don't like demolishing all my more expensive stuff in a matter of weeks :P

I've been sticking to Vat 69 recently but wanted to know if there were any other good options without having to go out and buy a few different bottles of **** scotch lol.

Tamdhu is about 50 bucks from Dan's, tis a great drop, rich and malty. Dan's also sell this if you want something smokier

http://danmurphys.com.au/product/DM_360 ... tch-whisky

It's a double malt (blend of Highland Park and Bowmore) but is quite tasty, and has a good part of the Bowmore smokiness. I don't mind a bottle of the Johnnie Walker Double Black on occasion too :)

Oh and def get some whiskey stones, can take the ethanol edge off a cheaper malt

hmm, might go pick up a bottle of Tamdhu and Glenlivet (which I've just stumbled upon http://danmurphys.com.au/product/DM_93651/) tomorrow.

I've thought about whiskey stones but I really don't like it cold, I'd rather round off rougher whiskeys with a little bit of water. If that's not enough to make it worth drinking I'm happier just to give away bottles to people who like coke

Yeah Glenlivet is good for the price too. Actually one at a similar price-point (and similar taste) to Glenlivet I forgot is Cragganmore.
