I was looking at getting a restricted 650 but I have a feeling it would have magically become full powered.


There wasn't any rain around, it was almost perfect riding conditions. I was just pulling up after giving it a bit of a belt, I thought I had tons of space to slow down in without having to do a full on E stop. so maybe I had given it a bit to much and lost traction over something.

the gt650R has a LAMS power of 40kw and dry mass of 203kg. So roughly 40x5 = 200kw, well above the limit yet its approved... what am i missing?

also i assume you can de-restrict the bike easily once you finish lams?

They include the rider weight of 80Kg I believe.

You can, tends to reduce your resale value though. As they can be restricted again afterwards and as far as 600s go, they're not real powerful. That being said, I have a Hyosung GT650R and they are still fast for the roads.

My brother had a postie bike for awhile, so he signed up to the postie bike forums (yes, they exist!)

APPARENTLY the fastest anyone had gotten one on there was about 120km/hr. "About" because the speedo maxes out at 100. The dude riding said he was going down hill slipstreaming a truck. Once he pulled out from the truck and was gunning it himself.... the motor blew up on him.

I'd prefer riding my 150 CC bullet scooter over a Hyo LAMS bike

my old man rides the 'naked' gt650 efi or whatever. Made me appreciate what a real bike rides like. I couldn't wait to get off it after 20min
