Baby seat question - VZ Commodore

Unread postby DarkMellie » 8 Apr 12, 3:11 pm

Heya,

So I notice on the back dash of my Acclaim there's a baby seat port of some kind. Do I just hook the seat up there and be done? I know the RAC fit baby seats, is that anything different to what's in my car?

Ta :)

In NSW it has to be done by a mechanic prior to taking bub home... might want to check the law on your island.

Cost us like $20 mind you.

They have to out the seat in? Last time I put one in it was pretty straightforward, didn't realize a pro had to do it o.O

Mmm. Upon checking the RTA site it says you can do it yourself... the missus read on her forum that a mechanic needed to do it >_>.

Not that I minded, needed an additional buckle anyway for the correct positioning for the newborn so would've needed to find that anyway! Plus the whole 'I'm male and most likely to f**k it up' thing kinda meant safety > manhood.

Not that I have hooked up a baby seat before but I do have a VZ Calais and from memory its just an anchor point with a bolt/screw through the metal plate thing isn't it?

Yeah, that's right Cozi. Kinda figuring that's what the RAC/Mechanic would aim to put in cars that didn't have it.

I guess I'll just call the RACT to confirm.

Cheers all :)

Just read the instructions prior to putting it in, use the anchor bolt supplied with the seat(most factory anchor bolts have a plastic connection, I don't trust that too much) and if your not confident that you've put it in properly take it too rac/mech etc, upholsterers and the likes can also check em as well. The only law I've heard of is the instruction manual must be kept with the seat at all times don't ask me why something to do with aus standards I guess.
