Remote Keyless

Unread postby Disco LT » 22 Nov 11, 7:14 pm

Got a question guys and the internet isn't helping much, I've got an XH Falcon, which has remote keyless, with a keyfob similar to an EF/EL Falcon. My keyfob has died, and am having trouble tracking down a new one. I've found some EF and EL keyfobs for sale, and am wondering if they can be programmed to replace mine?

And how to program it if anyone has any suggestions

You couldn't simply replace the battery? I put my VW keyring through the wash (by accident) and whilst everywhere I read said, throw it out as it will need to be reprogrammed and cost a fortune, I simply replaced the battery and it worked again (inc all additional features such as boot, windows etc).

Unfortuantely not, I'd taken it off to replace the battery and the dog got ahold of it in the meantime. It is utterly destroyed :(

Did you put the remote system in the XH mate?

With the documentation you should have what frequency your key fob is set to. Don't publish that information however you can get one reprogrammed.

Places that sell universal entry fobs should help. Otherwise goto an auto sparky, not K-Mart Auto. :D

*edit* reading fail

According to http://drlock.com.au/store/ford-remote-ef-el-xh-au they're the same, try to get one without* boot release if you can. also does your ute have a rear demister because if it doesn't you'll need to jump-connect two pins in the diagnostics plug under the steering column to program it.

programming new remote and if you have no rear demister read above.
* Be sure the ignition is off
* Turn the ignition to ACCESSORY, and within 5 seconds operate the rear defogger switch exactly three times
* After five seconds, the door lock buttons will operate once. All keypad codes have been erased, and Smartlock has entered the learning mode
* Press either button on the keypad. The door lock buttons will operate twice. Smartlock has learned that keypad's code. Repeat this procedure for any remaining keypads. Smartlock can be programmed for up to four keypads.
* Turn the ignition on or off to exit the programming mode and return to normal operation. The door lock buttons will operate once when Smartlock returns to normal mode.
* Check the operation of each keypad you have programmed.

All the ones I've seen online have two buttons, where mine has one - so I'm guessing one is meant to be the boot release? No rear demister too, but this gives me something to work on.

Cheers Rattu!

yeh second button is boot release but shouldn't matter either way,

*taken from fordmods*

Connect a shorting lead to the 2nd last terminal (top right) of the diagnosis connector. When you turn your ign key to ACC, within 5 secs, touch the lead to an earth point.

You need to earth it 3 times as too mimic pressing the demistor button, on my EL the the diag plug in connection is on the lower panel just right of the steering column, so it should be in the same place on the xh

I've had some pretty decent failures in my xr6 in the past 2 years so I find it pretty easy to find repair resources haha.

www.fordmods.com
www.fordforums.com.au

The only sites you really need for ford related stuff, if you can't find it there then you proberly won't find it.
