Auto VS Manual

Unread postby Disco LT » 2 Oct 11, 6:53 am

Which do you currently have? Which do you prefer? Why?

I've currently got a manual, it's got a stiff clutch and gives me the **** around town but I rejoice on the highway with the ability to overtake with ease, and change gears to lift the revs if I get stuck behind some slow **** caravan/truck going up a hill.

Despite that though I prefer an auto. What about you?

I have 2 manuals. One is heavy as f**k (the mini) the other is light as a feather (the cruze). Honestly, I love the feel of being able to change gears myself, and with the cruze it honestly feels like you're driving an auto but with the option of gear changes... just so damn smooth and easy!

Auto because I'm a lazy ****.

First time I drove a manual was a work car, and the clutch would grab 1mm from the floor, which made it incredibly frustrating so I got out of that into another work car where it felt like the gear box had been cemented into position. It was near impossible to change gear so I raged and went back to autos.

Manual for me. More control and more fun IMO. But I'm more then happy to drive an hour to work on 14kg springs everyday.

+1

Did my first 5 driving years on a manual, don't have a great hankering to go back. I drive to work and back, primarily.

I prefer manual because it makes it easier for hyper miling and using engine brakes is just awesome. Sadly there's no way I'll ever get used to the shift stick being on my left.

I prefer manual...
Both cars and both bikes (of course) in my house are manual.
Had an auto car previously when I was doing a *lot* of KMs (and the Calais only came in manual anyway) but now I don't have to deal with crappy traffic every day I'm back to a manual
