Text to speech+ google maps is awesome.

If you have a data plan on your phone that is not too bad, just invest into a craddle for the phone and a USB adaptor, and use google maps. Much better than a GPS that won't signal crossing lights that have been there for the last 3 years (and that's with the 2010 maps...)

I just look up directions before I go to the place and remember them. I got a GPS for christmas and I use that just as backup. Comes in handy. I let my gf use it too since shes bad at directions.
Was a Navman MY 65T. Really good. 3 years warranty and maps free :)
I do go my own way a lot though and the GPS tends to be correct with that, but sometimes it will have to recalculate and then it'll go the way I want to so yeahhh..

I wouldn't bother with a stand-alone GPS for my car but having gps, google maps (and navigation) on my phone has been amazing to have at times.

It's extremely impressive how well it all works too
