F1 2011

Unread postby Denzil » 10 Mar 11, 10:58 pm

Well we're only a couple of weeks from the new F1 season getting underway. Ofcourse, with the troubles in Bahrain we're kicking off in Melbourne. Red Bull look to have another very quick car (going by the testing) which is good for us Webber fans!

That rear end keeps getting more shrink-wrapped, even with KERS stuffed in there! And the rear suspension is so thin.

Ferrari seem decent, as do Renault, STR and Sauber. McLaren seem to be in a touch of trouble with their funny looking car but will probably be there or there abouts, while Mercedes are hoping a big aero upgrade at this final test will save their season.

The new Pirelli tyres seem to drop off after about 3-5 laps for the super softs, and 10-15 laps for the hards with the softs and mediums ranged in between. People are predicting anything up to 4 or 5 stops! 2 or 3 seems the most likely.

KERS is back, Double Diffusers, F-Ducts and Adjustable Front Wings are banned, we have an adjustable rear wing to be used on the main straight at each venue (during races anyways), and Dan Ricciardo looks like he'll be in an STR seat either later in the year or next. He'll be doing every Friday P1 session for STR in the meantime.

So, any other F1 fans? Or am I on my lonesome? :P

that car does look stunning.

I'm gunna try and follow it more closely this season. Can't say I'm a huge webber fan but I like how he's gelled with the red bull franchise.

should be interesting nonetheless.

what do you mean about adjustable rear wing on the straightaways - the rear wings don't adjust mid lap to they?!?

They sure do! During practice and qualifying they'll be able to use them anywhere, but during the race they'll only be allowed in a single "zone", most likely the longest straight, and only if you're close up behind another car.

It'll be tweaked so it's only a few km/h apparently, sort of making up for the loss of slipstream since 2008 when they tore a lot of the downforce off the cars.

Big F1 fan here. The tyre change will make things rather interesting this year, I was watching Vettel chat about it and mentioned that they do fall off pretty quick so more craziness in the pit lane is in store it seems. I'm not a huge Webber fan, but after last year he deserves to take it out, we'll just have to wait and see I guess :D Bring on Melbourne!

Another huge F1 fan here. Going to Melbourne for the race this year, got all my tickets and advantage stuff sent to me, super excited!

Been following all the off-season news closely. I'm hoping Mark can be even stronger this year but we'll see. Have been a Williams fan since a kid and hoping they can improve, although having another rookie isn't the best thing to help a team going forward. By the way loving the Williams paintjob, reminds me of the Rothman cars in the mid 90's :)

Can't copy as most are in a flash presentation.

Going to be relying for Bari to lead the way for the team this year again

Nah heh. I was just googling to find the images from somewhere to link :P First time I heard of that site hehe

Mercedez feel good after the last test in Barcelona which is good for them considering their recent problems.

Williams are still not sure what to do with KERS in Melbourne which for me is frustrating!

RBR seem to be in tip top shape, hopefully overcome reliability woes from previous couple seasons and go for it.

Ferrari also seem in a good spot, not many problems and long mileage during testing.

McLaren still not happy with their performance, will be interesting to see this in a race and how it goes.

Pirelli tyres will be a massive difference this year I think due to how quickly they degrade

mate from work is going - he booked really early, so he got entry to the drivers press conference, and a walk through pit lane. SO. FREAKING. JEALOUS.

Not to boast or anything but I got that this year :P

Really looking forward to the whole 'gp advantage' extras. Got a 4 day package, with the Jones stand on race day. Haven't been to an Aussie GP since the Adelaide finale. Went to Monza in 08 where Vettel won his first race with STR., don't think anything will top that heh.

i went up yesterday for the first time. just got general tickets, found a few ok spots up close. **** me they're loud though, ears are still ringing lol.. never followed F1 before but it was pretty awesome to see, definitely has me more interested in it now. the extra races were pretty good too, Carrera GT's and V8's afterwards.

i had a few pics on my **** phone, but not worth posting lol im a terrible shot & we were behind the fence. if i go again will have to try get tickets on the stand next time.
