bought a 'new' bike a week ago or so

little bit of history. I originally bought this bike back when it was almost new, and had only minimal mods. Then it was in an accident on the freeway when a car sideswiped me. Lucky I was going slow at the time (peak hour traffic n all) but it was just enough to write off the thing.

So the wreck went to auction, and i guy bought it, did it up and resold it... back to me. Factoring in the difference in the purchase price and my insurance payout...I ended up in the black from the whole ordeal myself too

07 'K8' GSXR1000


so I'll be using the above for weekend fun. The bike i originally bought to replace it, an 09 GSXR1000 will be used for daily commuting along with my scoot scoot.




i do have a car, but its a haildamaged **** box which doesn't deserve to be in this thread. only gets used twice a month or so..

Out of curiosity, do you often drive this in the hills?

why commute on the newer gsxr? surely you'd want to stack the K's up on the previously written off bike? or is the older bike now a track bike?

Yea, a couple times a week.

its got too many mods on it to enjoy commuting on... the exhaust has no baffles, so its ridiculously loud. we're talking headaches if no earplugs are worn. its also a better bike to ride thanks to the after market rims. Not to mention the paint job would just attract all kinds of attention from cops/theives, id worry about it all day.

the 07 was the first big bike i ever owned, my love affair for bikes really started with this one. id rather keep it pristine and treat it well. the 09 is good, but i dont get as bigger boner riding it. its not like i stack up the ks much on it, as i use the scooter for 80% of my trips. (bike only comes out when the commute is to long to do on the scoot)

EDIT: also it was a stat write off, the insurance companies write off bikes so quickly these days cause they can't be stuffed going through the repair process. therewas minimal damage to the bike, couple of munched fairings,and a few plastics needed replacing. crash knobs took most of the fall

Scored a free VR a few months ago.
144,000km However the odometer stopped working 3 years ago according to the service log.
I fixed the odometer, put a new windscreen in it, fixed the aircon and put new tyres. Best free car I've ever owned!


I've still got my old one tonner. I put a new motor in that so I could keep driving it on the weekends. Nothing special because I'm building another one tonner which will replace my red one.

It's receiving a lovely 700+ hp motor. Going to be a weekend cruiser.

Hah I cant believe how tidy that workshop doing your engine is...
Place doing up ours is a tiny arse brick place in the middle of a hardware shops storage yard / ex-brick fire ovens... One guy runs it and theres easy 50 engines hes booked to rebuild..
No shiny white floors and half a dozen people standing arround doing nothing

And it's 3m long.

They seem pretty tidy. It's a workshop in New York.

As long as the place has a good reputation I think that's all that matters.

Yeah, the place doing ours has been given a year to do it. Which has cut down the cost alot.
Gonna take that long to get the body work done anyhow, Every other weekend project for the old man and me so its gonna take ages with him in and out of hospital
