The F1 2010 guys did it with their game when they got stiffed by the release date last month - viewtopic.php?p=2349581#p2349581
Never done it before myself but I'm going to give it a whirl tonight for this one.

i will likely do this as im so sick of release dates being pushed back for steam. so now i just need to check the clock for what time the release is in the US

I've hooked it up, and it says approx 3 hours from now. So 6-7pm Melbourne time it should be good to go.

Be careful though, the trial for that program only gives you 3 hours worth of time. Hopefully I'll be able to use another email address and get another trial otherwise I'm S.O.L. :(

Want a "slightly" better one?

http://www.usaip.eu/en/free_vpn.php

Just download the file, hook up to Colorado, username and password is "demo" then get into Steam. You have unlimited hours, but it disconnects every 7 minutes. But when you only need it for Authentication, it seems to do it pretty well.

Well I don't know how it'd stop you mid-game, but I guess you gotta reconnect every time you want to start the game up again.

While it would be cool to play sooner rather than later I won't trust my Steam account security on a free VPN service. I can wait a few more days to get my Fallout on. :)

Hope those who're VPN'ing it up have a good time though! :D

I followed the instructions I linked above and got it all running fine.
Ran the VPN thing, hooked up to the US server, started up Steam, hit the play button for New Vegas and decrypted it and then went offline mode, killed the VPN stuff and fired it up. It all appears to be in working order.
