Interesting, will be good to see what they come up with, and how much of Bethesda's engine and assets they use. Good on Bethesda for not being pricks about the license, they could have easily turned around and not let them use it.

Time for a bumparoo from probably the only person on the planet who was insane/dedicated enough to get the GOTY editions of FO3 on Xbox 360 and the PC, since he has to wait for an upgrade to run the latter... perhaps this could be the official FO:NV discussion thread.

Gameplay Trailer from E3

Thoughts:
  • The gameplay graphics feel a bit old now. I'm not saying it's a deal-breaker but I do hope for a little polishing before it's released.
  • The Grenade Machine Gun looks like a blast at :55. I do imagine it's something you'll want to use rarely as it looks like it goes through grenades like crazy.
  • The C4 looks like good times. I hope they take a small page out of Bad Company's books and make it devastating to the environment.
  • What the hell was being thrown at the 1:00 mark? Something like a hand grenade mixed with some fireworks. Sure is colourful.
  • I see myself losing as much time in the Casinos as I did in RDR, playing Poker, Blackjack and Liar's Dice, which is to say was a LOT. Yay for mini-games.
  • Note to self: Don't annoy the Big Horners. I have no desire to go flying.
  • Looks like the Portable Laser Beacon will be the new Experimental MIRV in New Vegas, although from what I'm reading, you're limited to one use per 24 hours. Boourns.
  • Poor little Enclave eyebot.

And best of all FO:NV is not using Games For Windows Live. It will be available through Steam.

Seeing as I'm eagerly searching the Net for any information on FO:NV to learn as much as I can before it's released, I thought this might be worth copypasting.

Fallout Wikia wrote:http://www.computerandvideogames.com gently informs us that "Fallout : New Vegas" has been given an 18 rating by the British Board of Film Classification.

The game also apparently has 5 hours worth of cutscenes, compared to the 11 hours of "Fallout 3".

You're a pretty harsh judge on graphics.

Perhaps I am a touch unrealistic, but FO3 was released in 2008 and it seems every year, the visuals in a video game get upgraded and get closer to 'am I watching animation or am I watching something that's real?' and eventually, it will get to the point where the two lines will be so blurred, it'll be terrifying, where you'll be able to zoom in on a person's forehead with a sniper rifle in a game and be able to count the pores on their forehead.

Do I expect that from New Vegas? God no, that's many many years away. But I did want to see a little bit of the roughness gone from the environment.
