Important Server changes - 22/04/09

With the new patch released today that introduces a new game mode I have made the following changes to Internodes Left4Dead servers:

sv_search_key enabled for servers #1 to #21

Bring down the console (~ key) and type the following in to the console:

Code: Select all

sv_search_key "internode"

With this command entered you will find an Internode server when searching for a lobby or server as a priority.

Note: You will have to enter this command everytime you start up L4D. You can add it to your autoexec.cfg file if you know what you are doing

Dedicated servers to each game type

We now have several servers that only run a specific game type. Which game type a server is configured for is displayed in its server name listed here (Bottom of the page).

Both these changes should make it easier to play the game type you want on our servers.

If there servers are all named games.on.net rather than Internode, shouldn't the search be for "games.on.net" rather than "Internode"?

L4D doesn't have a server browser per se so the actual name of the server has very little exposure.

Even when you connect to one of our servers all you see is our banner. Only by typing "status" in to the console can you see the server name.

Plus "internode" is easier to type

hmnm not sure I understand exactly what difference this makes. If I am searching using the GON steam group, does this make any difference?

Can it be added to the shortcut like the "novid" command?

awesome! will have to test this out, the DLC has been giving me some grief with the sv_search_key and ms_force_dedicated_server commands, they stopped working so ive been using sv_search_max_ping and setting that to "50" as a work-around and leaving the key and force commands empty, anyone else having the same issue? havent tried "internode" for the search key yet.

It's possible that not all server's allow survivial mode yet, could be why these commands are not functioning correctly.

Tried sv_search_key 3 times and it's worked perfectly, connected to a node server in a couple of seconds.

FYI you don't need the " around "internode" in the search key.

Used it twice tonight, works an absolute treat. Finds a server before i even let go of the mouse button
