Monster Truck Trials

Unread postby mpeyper » 31 Oct 10, 9:35 pm

hey all,

play first then read -> Monster Truck Trials

this is just a simple flash game from a course i took this semester (Games Physics) and i thought i would share it with you guys.

basically we built the physics engine in our tutorials then had to implement a game using it.

any ideas or comments you have are welcome as i intend to continue working on it over summer. the first thing im going to do is throw away this rubbish physics engine we made and put use a more commercial (but still free) engine... any suggestions?

other idea i have include:
sounds (didnt have time for the assignment)
multiple trucks to choose from (again, didnt get time)
a better scoring system (times dont mean much on random levels)
a better menu (im thinking a demo of the game in the background)
leaderboards

also post your best times, just for fun :P

mine are:

easy: 28.00 secs (so exact!!)
medium: 41.45 secs
hard: 61.43 secs

enjoy :D

Right and left just dont seem to do much for rotating the car imo, very easy to get stuck and unable to go forward or back (even after using the space bar to drop in a new car).

Funnily enough I played a game very similar to this, but with a motorbike on my iPad today.

If you have an iPad download MX Mayhem, it is currently free, and check out the differences between your game and it.

With all of that being said, you did much better then I ever could. So keep up the good work, and best of luck moving forward.

rotation was meant only as an aid (you are in a monster truck and not on a bike after all) and in hindsight didnt fit the monster truck idea much. its also scales with the difficulty. play on easy and youll see.

theres also another game (which is was sorta based off) called Trials HD for PC and XBox 360, also on motor bikes.

i dont have an ipad but i will google it

thanks for playing :D
