Any of you guys ever used a proggie called Game Maker? About to start a Term long course with my Year 7s. Checking whether it'd be the most appropriate proggie

Its used for quick game prototyping. Great starting place, and a program you can continue to use as a professional.

My Dad teaches this to his grade 8 to 10 classes I believe. He seems to enjoy it and the kids do too. Good basic step into learning how to make games. I haven't touched it myself, but he seems to know a lot about it.

He works in distance education in Queensland and has put together a curriculum around this. I could ask him for some more information on what he is doing if you want?

BlitzBasic may be a little too advanced for grade 7/8s though...

Yeah champ that would be great.. Got the Year 7s to create a 'Catch and click' game this morning, some had trouble but on the whole they picked it up rather quickly, next on the cards will be a 'Space Invaders' game for them to have a go at.

Thinking about giving the Year 6s an opportunity to have a crack this arvo. Anyone if your old man has anything that could help, I'll PM you my email and it would be greatly appreciated!

haha I know he was playing around with Space Invaders and a few other retro style games. I won't be able to get back to you until monday but I'll ask him some other games and techniques etc for you when I see him later today. Good timing.
