my guys stats seem ok to me but i just keep dying by any yellow or blue guy mostly and big mobs are no chance , blew a heap of gold on pointless **** and only have like 40k now , guess i just have to wait to buy better gear n grind the early game...any help for a noob? :58_40:

get a better weapon.

jump on the ah, search for your desired weapon type, have a minimum item level of 60, with a reduced level requirement of 4. youll be able to get a weapon with atleast double your current weapon dps

As a barb you shouldn't be focusing on DPS (unless its ridiculously low). You should be focusing hard on tanking, because if your having trouble in Hell, inferno is gonna kick your head in. I cant see your armour but all resist + vitality is what you want, if you can get strength on it as well your laughing (unfortunately stuff with those 3 stats arent usually cheap). Because youve stated that elites seem to be your problem im guessing your resists are low. As for skills and passives i use the following and im up to act 3 inferno with average gear <2 mill overall.

build = http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/b ... bVe!accaZZ

Basically you just swing away using frenzy and every time revenge pops up hit that. You'll want to make sure your warcry is always up and when you reach 60 change the rune to impunity (more resists yummy). Your passives are also holding you back considerably because they are all damage, the 3 youll see in my build give you tonnes of tank. Finally the other 3 moves are mainly for bosses/elites. Use the charge to get out of a fight, evade elite elemental **** or as a nice heal (you'll notice the rune gives you HP per enemy hit). Pop ignore pain when things get rough and use wrath with the double damage rune to burn them down a little faster.

So id recommend going on the AH setting a buy out for maybe 20-30K a piece and search for pieces of armour that have all resist + vitality and see what the best ones you can get are (don't worry if they are blue, that generally means you'll get it cheap, they can still be good). The easiest way to play a barb is to grind your enemies down with huge tank but mediocre DPS (once you get to act 2-3 inferno, youll be able to make enough money to get the big weapons, or you might even find one).

Your stats aren't bad and 40K HP is doable up to act 3 inferno, so its plenty where your up to, its just your damage reduction thats **** your up.

Yeah, I dunno about barbs (mine only lv 33) but for my 60 monk Defensive skills is where it is at. 3/6 skills are defensive ones. All Passives are.

2 skills with the right combo of gear for damage.

My Barb is at lvl34 now and I can attest to the fact that I've put on more defensive skills as I've leveled up.

- Cleave is my main attack. Gets groups and with the rupture rune takes down groups quickly
- I've kept leap since I got it as it's great to get out of situations and for the armour buff rune.
- Furious charge can be both great offensively and defensively for getting out of situations.
- Warcry is great for adding more armour

All of the above work well together to top up my Fury.

- Revenge was one my bro suggested and it's been invaluable for keeping the health up and not spending.
- I like using Earthquake as my uber powerful attack (something has to spend all that Fury) but will likely change to one of the other powerful attacks later in the game.
- 2 of my passives boost armour and the other enhances weapon damage. The later will probably change to one that either keeps my life up or improves defense as soon as I get a better weapon.

from memory, for normal and NM you can pretty much build around DPS and be okay. hell you might need to start mixing in some vitality. inferno is where everything changes.

I am still running full offensive on my barb, rolling with DW both socketed with +64 life steal though which is quite effective at that level. Not dying yet:P when I start dying i shall respec/re gear :P in the mean time, pewpewpew

Yer around act 3-4 in hell i found i needed to drop the DW and decided the shield build. Its possible to 2-hander and/or DW in inferno, but your probably gonna have a bad time :P.
