well, if you regret the hours input once you die then you will obviously never enjoy and understand hardcore.
There are people that play hardcore that should be in softcore because they can't deal with it. They may be skillful, but they're sooks who belong in SC.
I lost my 121hrs barb and laughed it off immediately and started a new one promptly which is much better. The worst thing is I lost it due to the game freezing which they've addressed in the most recent patch, so I didn't get to see my death.
Manage your gold, items, backups, spread time over characters, most of al.. have fun and you shouldn't have a such a large problem once death arrives.
