Yes, but only for high level items that sell for a bit or items with good specs relative to the level

Yes, but mainly gold

No, we shouldn't have to spend more money just to survive later difficulties. It's only a game.

I for one cannot understand how people can pay more for after-purchase content than the original price of the game itself. It's why DLC never took off with me; esp when the average price of my PS3 games is below $20. I spent $137 for my D3 Collector's ed and then some for the Book of Cain (really cool) and the Authenticator (should not have been necessary). Definitely won't be spending real money on the RMAH as I know there will be the inevitable purchase of an expansion pack.

Given that gold can be bought on the open market for US$7-8/m (I personally am very against the buying of gold/items outside of the RMAH), what a lot of people are doing is buying underpriced items from the RMAH and then selling it for gold in the normal AH, and then sell the gold they made from the item for a profit in the open market.

So if you ever intend on using the RMAH, just divide all the prices by 10 and multiply them by a million to get an estimate on how much gold each item would cost. For example, a $5 dollar item should in theory go for about 500k (approximately, should be closer to 600k).

Interesting post :)

I may use the RMAH but I won't be using any additional funds. I may sell a few items on there then use that credit to buy others.

I'm willing to spead real-world money on a game which gives me in return a rewarding experience and one which I know I will make use of.

That's why I've spent money on Team Fortress 2 items, because I play the game a lot and I enjoy the community whom I play with (mostly ;) ) and am familiar with.

Based on past experience with Diablo and Diablo 2, I don't necessarily see Diablo 3 as a long-term interest. I play this game mostly as single-player and am not particularly fussed about playing co-op. Hence I am one of those players who aren't too pleased about the lag issues and server downtimes. Which is not to say Diablo 3 is a bad game, there are just some really disappointing aspects.

Maybe, just maybe, I'll consider selling items on the RMAH but I sure as hell won't be buying anything.

tldr; No, I have better things to spend my money on.

Those two lines pretty much sums up my thoughts.

I really wanted to cherish Diablo 3 and, from the number of hours I've put into it, I still think it's a great game. It's just not good enough to make me want to put more money into it in the form of the RMAH. We'll see how good an expansion Blizzard can make for D3.

just sold two items on there for 5.44 and 9.44. will probably just be buying gold/items with it for now. I might switch to paypal and get real money if things go well.

OK, well I've decided to run a little experiment... got a whole bunch of items I found useful for my Barb that are between lvl 8 and 29 which, seeing how I found them useful, might sell.

Threw them all on the RMAH so lets see if anyone buys these at the price Blizzard recommended them at. Granted many will go for under US$2 which means I'll be left with less than US$1.

fairly sure blizz recommended price is based on the gold amount vendors will buy them for.

I agree... though I still think the price is somewhat high for low to mid level items. We'll see I guess. I'm just curious as to what the demand is like.

Personally I think its crazy to spend real money on low - mid level items which you're going to outgrow fairly quickly. But if people have more money than sense, good for them. And even better for the seller.

My thoughts too. Hell, I wouldn't spend real money on items full stop!

But if there's a demand, I'll be happy to supply. Again, it's only an experiment... plus it helps clear up my stash a bit regardless of whether I sell or not

I still haven't made jack... low level items just won't sell; not even the legendary ones. Got a few lower level legendaries listed with a starting bid price set by Blizzard and then a much higher buyout price of around $25-30 (just in case there are really stupid people out there). No takers.

I've walked away with another realisation... given that Blizzard charges $1 for every transaction, the purchaser will have to see value of at least $1.01 in the item before any transaction is made. But then why would anyone sell something for 1c profit. I think RMAH will only work well for lvl 45 items onwards where people will see value in spending a few dollars.

My bro apparently has $30 coming in on his first RMAH item which will go towards the expansion. I don't have a lvl 60 char nor the time to pump into the higher difficulties like he does.

1.25 is minimum buyout. I sell everything for $2, regardless of its stats.

made $3 so far =D
