All gear for DH GONE!

Unread postby astraleclipse » 4 Jun 12, 5:18 am

Well I am getting sick to fkn death of the constant woes with Diablo 3!!!

I log in tonight to play only to discover my level 24 DH has ALL gear gone and my starting quest is in tristram when I was actually in act 2.

I can only conclude that the blizzard servers have been hacked as my password would not be guessed.

I have requested a character rollback but I dont know if I am going to get everything back or not.

Blizzard you have seriously dropped the fkn ball with this game and I will be thinking twice before buying another blizzard game in the future.

Yeah if its anything like WoW the slimy buggers will be stealing accounts and gear and such.. might be worth checking for a key logger than buying one of those clicker gadgets or having the app on your phone?

I don't think so, yeah having one probably would have helped and may have prevented the issue, but it doesn't change the fact someone stole from him. If someone steals a car, you don't say "no alarm, no sympathy", do you?

Posting just to be an inconsiderate dick isn't necessary.

Well perhaps I didn't explain my stance.

It has been in several News posts and repeatedly mentioned by Blizzard that the only way to keep your account safe is to have an Auntenticator. Right down to Blizzard CS's admitting that they have lost personal accounts that weren't secured with one.

I also cannot stand the attitude that "it wasnt my fault", yes it was. Blizzard's servers haven't been hacked, someone stole the information on your end. If Blizzard had an intrusion there would be some serious consequences beyond the occasional person losing all their stuff.

That being said I would be willing to donate 20k to the "help astraleclipse" fund if he doesn't get anything back......so I guess I do have some sympathy :P

You'd change your tune rather quick if it was your account that was stolen.

Really? I am actually a big fan of taking responsibility for your actions. If my account gets hacked I am going to assume someone got my Authenticator restore codes because I put them in a silly spot. Not that its Blizzard's fault.

So no.

Harsh is right.

I didnt even know what a blizzard authenticator was until last night.
I certainly didnt know that blizzard are so prone to having accounts stolen/hacked.

Not all of us have been playing blizzard games recently and not all of us have been reading up on blizzards blog.

I think at least a touch of sympathy is in order.

Sorry to hear it mate, ima grab the mobile authenticator right meow.

Fair enough, it was harsh.

The assumption that people read about the game they were playing was incorrect.

"Blizzard are so prone to having accounts stolen" isn't really accurate. Blizzard accounts are a big target because there is a big market for illicit gold/items and hacked accounts are a big source of it. But it isn't blizzard themselves being hacked, in fact they take all reasonable steps in helping people secure their accounts, by offering security apps for free or physical ones for near cost.

IMO the correct people to blame (in order) are a) the gold sellers/hackers b) their customers who buy gold/stolen items c) people who didn't secure their accounts THEN Blizzard.

I can't speak for others but I don't, I just play the game and maybe post about it in a thread if I have something to contribute. In fact I don't even read most of the GoN News, only ones that really grab my interest for upcoming games or trailers.

In fact although I know there were a few launch issues with D3, I didn't own the game at time so I couldn't go into detail or even give a brief overview of what they were.. I just play it and it works for me now :P
